Running 1:03:00 [1] 8.0 mi (7:52 / mi)

A different finger swelled up this time so it is back on the steriods and at a higher dose. My husband was the only doctor to diagnose this correct from the beginning the other five doctors missed it or had no idea. The RAST test either gave a false negative or was done wrong. I was able to run well even with all of that steriod that I am taking. Today is another high dose and then slowly taper. My finger is starting to look a little better this time I started it real quick before I had the complete reaction- not pretty.

Running 40:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

First run of the day. Stopped and stretched some. I had a massage last night; still feel stiff. Might be all of the house cleaning and yard work to catch up on after the fence was built.

Running 39:00 [3] 5.0 mi (7:48 / mi)

Second run of the day. Sun setting by the time I started so it was much cooler.

Sunday Jun 27, 2004 #

Running 52:00 [1] 6.0 mi (8:40 / mi)

Recovery day. Ran on the trails and forgot my watch so the time and distance are a guess. Wanted to run some on the trails to get ready for the upcoming training runs.

Weightlifting 10:00 [3]

50 pushups and 150 situps- different kinds done in sets this is the total number.

Running 2:28:00 [2] 18.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Ran point to point. Arrived late so the group already left so took about 6 miles to catch back up. Ran 7:50 pace early to catch the group once I ran with the group so some of the miles were slower then at the end ran on my own to add some mileage. Very hot and humid the whole way. My new sneakers were digging into my foot, but was able to adjust it so it stopped bothering me. The group walked a bit, 2 ins, for one part so I had to racewalk so I would not stiffen up. Lots of mileage due to moving my long run last week until Sunday. Three days of long runs in seven days. Somewhat stiff I attribute this more to wearing my sneakers just a tad to long. They were always kind of stiff probably not the best for me these are nice and airy.

Friday Jun 25, 2004 #

Running 32:00 [1] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Easy run. Mostly wanted to be sure the new sneakers were OK before the next day long run.

Thursday Jun 24, 2004 #

Running 55:00 [1] 6.5 mi (8:28 / mi)

Ran over to the track and jogged around while somebody else was doing a track workout. walked part of this mileage as a cool down. The track was a lot hotter probably into the 90's; it is a black track and it really heats up from the sun. First run of the day.

Running 1:49:00 [3] 14.0 mi (7:47 / mi)

Second run of the day. I think this is my fastest training run for this distance over this point to point run. Did not sleep a lot last night so thought it might be tough. I ran so slow for the first run so this helped. My smeakers have seen there better days.

Wednesday Jun 23, 2004 #

Running 50:00 [3] 6.5 mi (7:42 / mi)

Ran into Bethesda to pick up a tool to fix the air compressor so stopped to pay for the part and run back. Light rain.

Tuesday Jun 22, 2004 #

Running 39:00 [3] 5.0 mi (7:48 / mi)

After taking yesterday off had a lot more spring in my step. Still took it easy as I am building up my base mileage. First run of the day. After lifting weights on Sunday my legs feel much better this time I skipped doing squats I think that is what makes me so stiff eventhough they do wonders to strengthen your legs. Did lots of other legs lifts instead. I still have stiff abs pushed more of these then usual because my abs are so weak.

Running 39:00 [3] 5.0 mi (7:48 / mi)

Second run of the day. Did some drills in the backyard after picking up from the fence builder.

Sunday Jun 20, 2004 #

Running 2:11:30 [3] 16.5 mi (7:58 / mi)

Ran on the C & O canal. First 7 miles in 57:40 lost time going over the rocks on the way back faster running in 55:20. Ran approx another 2.5 miles on trails through the woods.

Weightlifting 1:00:00 [3]

Lifted weights. Did 40 pushups and 150 sit ups- all different types. Went home and spent two hours weeding the yard and general clean up. Just starting to build mileage.

Saturday Jun 19, 2004 #

Running 40:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Ran a loop with the Mormon Temple hill.

Friday Jun 18, 2004 #

Running 48:00 [1] 6.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

easy recovery run. Not as humid as last night somewhat cooler wheater; just did not push myself.
Spent sometime in the AM stretching.

Thursday Jun 17, 2004 #

Running 1:50:00 [3] 14.0 mi (7:51 / mi)

Ran on the trail. It was extremely humid as the passing rains made the trail real wet. Ran the whole way with wet sneakers.

Wednesday Jun 16, 2004 #

Running 1:04:00 [1] 8.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Made myself a different eight mile loop. It is a little more challenging hill wise. The old route was getting old. Temp in the low 80's with high humidity. Had to get up early this morning as I don't have a car so probably feeling the lack of sleep. The extra 1.5 hrs helps.

Tuesday Jun 15, 2004 #

Running 32:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Easy run. Spent sometime doing drills in the field; did not add the time.

Running 46:00 [3] 6.0 mi (7:40 / mi)

WIth the rains passing through the temps dropped a lot for my second run. My hips are much more flexible and I probably get more power from them after my maseuse(sp) worked on them on Monday.

Sunday Jun 13, 2004 #

Orienteering 1:11:30 [3] 5.76 km (12:25 / km)

QOC beer chase; I opted for the water. I was getting very water logged and had a tough time drinking all of that water. I could feel it swishing around in my stomach as I was running. Probably lost 2+ mins on the water stops because I drink so slow. I don't think I drank this much water even during the whole marathon!

Running 27:00 [1] 3.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Warm up and cool down for beer chase. Walked some of the warm up and cool down. At least I did not stiffen up. Monday is massage day.

Saturday Jun 12, 2004 #

Running 1:51:30 [3] 14.0 mi (7:58 / mi)

Point to Point semi-long run. Ran in the middle of the day when it was sunny and high 70's. Starting to give up that Tim will ever seriously train for road racing so he can challenge me.

Friday Jun 11, 2004 #

Running 1:03:00 [3] 8.0 mi (7:52 / mi)

The gov't was off today for Reagan. We still had the training course (last day) as people from all over flew in for it. Wanted to run a double just did not have the time. Ran at night when it was pouring rain probably made me run a tad faster. I was tired from looking at about 2,000 pathology slides.

Thursday Jun 10, 2004 #

Running 1:04:00 [3] 8.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Easy run. Sitting all day in the classroom is really making me stiff. Friday is the last day of training.

Hiking 2:00:00 [1] 10.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

Walking to and from Walter Reed all five days. The metro only gets you so close and so I walk the rest. The neighborhood is not actually the best and even with a backpack and the heat I walk briskly.

Wednesday Jun 9, 2004 #

Running 1:20:00 [3] 10.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Ran to work to check email and then ran home.

Tuesday Jun 8, 2004 #

Note

Very tired from a day of work training. Have to get up much earlier then usual plus the course is rather intense with lots of sitting. My legs were stiff yet again from the weightlifting so opted for a hot bath to loosen them up.

Monday Jun 7, 2004 #

Running 48:00 [3] 6.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Ran easy loop incorporating the Mormon Temple hill.

Sunday Jun 6, 2004 #

Running 19:48 [3] 5.0 km (3:58 / km)

MCRRC championship series race. I thought I could PR with this race; I think Haines point was my best chance. A little squishy at the start as the trail is narrow and it was not blocked off for us. It did not cause much of a problem with the start; people ran out real fast and after the turn I passed a few of them back. Finished 4th women, first master and 42nd out of 258. Earned another 10 pts for the series. Probably will go back into training mode. This race was the correct distance. I knew after the first mile that I was much slower then my effort on Haines point or even the week before at Sue Wen's run.

Weightlifting 1:00:00 [3]

Able to leg curl 135 pds the most ever for me.

Running 32:00 [1] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Warm up and cool down for the race.

Friday Jun 4, 2004 #

Running 40:00 [2] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Slow run around the neighborhood.

Thursday Jun 3, 2004 #

Running 59:00 [3] 8.0 mi (7:22 / mi)

Ran with 3 times 10 mins at 6:50/mile pace. Rested two minutes in between sets. Jogged slowly as a cool down.

Wednesday Jun 2, 2004 #

Running 1:44:00 [3] 13.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

point to point run. Kept it kind of easy.

Tuesday Jun 1, 2004 #

Running 48:00 [1] 6.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Easy run. Felt not as stiff as I had been feeling the last three days probably from the weightlifting that I have been away from for almost one month. I had a massage yesterday and had her spend more time on my legs.
