Running 48:00 [2] 6.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Ran with 5 X 100m. Roads kind of busy with everyone rushing home.

Thursday Oct 30, 2003 #

Running 42:00 [1] 5.0 mi (8:24 / mi)

Tuesday Oct 28, 2003 #

Sunday Oct 26, 2003 #

Running 42:00 [1] 5.0 mi (8:24 / mi)

Just stretching out the legs after the marathon.

Saturday Oct 25, 2003 #

Running 1:00:00 [1] 7.0 mi (8:34 / mi)

Planned to run five and when the bridge was out this added a couple of miles on to get around the water. Just did not feel liking going through waist high water on a 50 degree day.

Weightlifting 1:00:00 [3]

Went to the gym to swim and decided to weightlight instead. After not lifting for three weeks felt kind of funny.

Wednesday Oct 22, 2003 #

swimming 55:00 [2] 1.5 mi (36:40 / mi)

Swam a lot of fly and breaststroke.

Tuesday Oct 21, 2003 #

Note

Our team, Quad Squad, of MCRRC finished 17th out of 235 teams at the Chicago Marathon. I had the strongest race and earned the most "points".

swimming 50:00 [3] 1.6 mi (31:15 / mi)

Freestyle mostly; did some intervals faster then I thought. 10 X 50. did them in 40 secs so hanging on the wall for 20 secs of rest; not bad considering I am not using my legs much. Did swim drills and kicking also, thus the slow mileage time.

Sunday Oct 19, 2003 #

swimming 35:00 [1] 1.1 mi (31:49 / mi)

Mostly freestyle with some breaststroke and back. Kicked for 100.

Saturday Oct 18, 2003 #

Bike riding 20:00 [1]

Stationary bike to stretch out legs. Wanted to go swimming instead volunteered at Lake Acotinik for the start/ finish area. Did not mind watching everyone else run. By the time I finished it was to late to get to the pool.

Wednesday Oct 15, 2003 #

swimming 22:00 [1] 0.75 mi (29:20 / mi)

Stretching back out. The water was very cold and never warmed up; went to the sauna shivering a lot and took about 10 mins to semi warm up.

Sunday Oct 12, 2003 #

Running 3:14:56 [5] 26.22 mi (7:26 / mi)

Chicago Marathon. Finished 1984 out of 40,000. Temp started out good low 50's by the end of the race well into the 70's. Started around 5,000th lots of people passing me early and then of course I was passing everyone all the way in. Ran the first half in 1:35:06 had to stop twice for a bathroom on the second half. Still awaiting the team results. Had a good team; estimating we will be 10th out of 283 teams. Need to start closer to the line. Plenty fast enough to qualify for Boston.

Thursday Oct 9, 2003 #

Note

Travel day; will eat and sleep the rest of the week for "training". Somewhat warmer here then back home; a front is due through Saturday eve to drop the temperature.

Wednesday Oct 8, 2003 #

Running 46:00 [4] 6.0 mi (7:40 / mi)

Run with three miles in 21:04. Still using the heart monitor and keeping the heart rate on the downhill at 155 while running a 6:46 mile on the uphill went to 162 for the next mile (this was the steepest part )and then ran in at 160 and 7:00 min mile.

Tuesday Oct 7, 2003 #

Running 35:00 [1] 4.0 mi (8:45 / mi)

Easy. Spending the non-running time eating and sleeping more.

Monday Oct 6, 2003 #

Running 34:00 [1] 4.0 mi (8:30 / mi)

Easy run to loosen the legs.

Sunday Oct 5, 2003 #

Orienteering 34:45 [2] 3.1 km (11:13 / km) +70m 10:04 / km

QOC meet at King's Landing. Did not want to run the longer course tapering before the race.

Running 20:00 [1] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Warm up and cool down. Also replaced missing punch on one control.

Saturday Oct 4, 2003 #

Running 1:40:00 [1] 12.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Ran around Sugarloaf mountain. Started out cold and rainy "warmed up" and stopped raining half way through the run. Local running club organized so had water stops. Forgot to turn off watch during stop so includes this time probably about one minute +. Ran one mile in 7:24 while talking with others, but decided to slow down anyways. Bowled six games afterwards a little more encouraging to practice now that I scored 193 the other night.

Friday Oct 3, 2003 #

Running 1:17:00 [4] 10.0 mi (7:42 / mi)

Ran 10 with four miles in 28 mins.

Wednesday Oct 1, 2003 #

Running 1:00:00 [4] 7.0 mi (8:34 / mi)

Ran two miles of warm up and cool down with 4X800 at 3:20. Rested for 400 m. Could not use the track at the HS so back to the trail. Used my heart rate monitor 140 on the downhill 800's 150 on the uphill.
