Saturday Dec 31

Running 1:01:00 [1]6.8 mi (8:57 / mi)
ran a mixture of trails and road. iced my achy knee once I was home and again at night. Starting to be a pesky little injury.

Friday Dec 30

Running 16:00 [1]2.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
Ran to the gym and back.
Weightlifting 35:00 [2]
Lifted weights including flys, squats and sit-ups. Knee seems to be slowly feeling better.

Thursday Dec 29

Cross training 10:00 [1]
After all of that I did not want to stiffen up plus my right knee was still bothering me.

Wednesday Dec 28

Walking 42:00 [3]0.8 mi (52:31 / mi) +500m 11:05 / km
Went to the Catskills with the original plan of hiking up the Peeks***** mountain. We arrived at the parking spot that was all occupied with other cars so it was plan B. We went down the road and found a place about two miles away to park the car. We went up the other mountain range first passing by this "hill". Yes, on the trail marker it was called a hill. Sat on the top waiting for the other two hikers to catch up and then went across the ridge. The real distance seems longer just no marker at the top saying "you have reached the top of the hill."
Hiking 1:50:00 [1]7.0 mi (15:43 / mi)
shoes: Integrator O spikes
Going across the ridge, which was really flat and fast, in three inches of snow blazing the trail the whole way. Ran over 1/2 of the time with the two other hikers. We were not alone seeing plenty of deer, coyote and other non-human tracks. Maybe moose? We turned around thinking it would take a while to get down the hill just we flew dropping the .8 miles in about 10 mins. We jogged it slowly only taking it easy for the rocky parts or stream crossing. We finished with lots of daylight. Oh well......

Tuesday Dec 27

Running 1:02:00 [2]5.5 mi (11:15 / mi) +300m 5:59 / km
Ran up to the top of the hill overlooking the Hudson River. Took 32 mins to reach the top this includes stopping once for a bathroom and several times to places arrow anytime the trail forked so that my brother and husband could follow me up the same path. Looked around for about two mins jogging slowly and headed back down as the plan was only to go out for an hour. I met them and the view was so great due to the lack of winter haze. I walked slowly with them and only towards the end as daylight became an issue my brother and I went to the top. Later on my brother and I took off again running to the top so this time is added in the other part is while I was walking.
Hiking 2:30:00 [1]4.5 mi (33:20 / mi) +300m 17:10 / km
shoes: Integrator O spikes
Hking back up and down with my husband and brother to the top of hill. My brother and I made it to the top since the last 800 m was rather steep with loose rocks. We ran around on the top looking at the old foundations and houses that were abondaned(sp.) in the early 70's. Left once we realized the day was going to be short getting down. Made it back with about 15 more mins of light.

Monday Dec 26

Walking 1:00:00 [1]4.0 mi (14:59 / mi)
Walking around NYC including Times Square and Central park. The pace is probably to slow for cardio benefit, just need the cheesy mileage.

Sunday Dec 25

Running 1:03:00 [1]7.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
Went to a local park running some on roads, trails and off trail plus through the golf course. Distance is an estimate. Went home to find out the turkey was to frozen to cook so it was Chinese for Christmas dinner.

Saturday Dec 24

Running 51:00 [2]5.5 mi (9:16 / mi)
Ran on the Applachian Trail first starting on roads. At first no one used the trail so had to watch carefully what way to go. Eventually came to a point near a parking lot that several people used it.
Core Training 10:00 [1]
stretching and yoga before driving.

Friday Dec 23

Running 16:00 [1]2.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
ran to the gym and back.
Weightlifting 35:00 [2]
Did 200 sit-ups (100 military; 100 other) did squats, curls, hip machine, lat pull down and other stuff.

Thursday Dec 22

Running 1:03:00 [1]8.0 mi (7:53 / mi)
Ran my usual loop.

Wednesday Dec 21

Running 24:00 [1]3.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
ran to the gym and back.
Weightlifting 20:00 [2]
Lifted weights at another gym. It is much, much smaller versus the other gym I use, but it will make do. Had this hip machine. Not hip, to exercise your hip muscles.
Note
I looked back on my totals and all I need is another 70 miles for the balance of the year to reach 3,000. This will tie the most mileage in one year, just this time I did not wind up being injured.
Running 32:00 [3]4.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
Went shopping and thought this was a good place to get a second run in. It was terrible with poorly lit streets that are to narrow. Cut the run short.

Tuesday Dec 20

Running 1:19:00 [1]10.0 mi (7:54 / mi)
Planned to run eight just got going and went a little longer. felt better today.

Monday Dec 19

Running 40:00 [1]5.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
ran easy. I jammed my legs a couple of times running in the snow since I could not see the underbrush. My right knee is a little bit sore. Had my last masseuse(sp.) yesterday since he is getting out of the business so will have to find somebody else. Kind of disappointing since he is really good.

Sunday Dec 18

Orienteering 1:24:05 [1]6.6 km (12:44 / km) +225m 10:53 / km
Riverbend park. The Oing was not to technically difficult. Ran through snow for one-half of the time so this slowed my running a bit. saw lots of people throughout the course so had to really focus on what I was doing.

Red - Splits

Saturday Dec 17

Running 55:00 [1]6.0 mi (9:10 / mi)
shoes: Integrator O spikes
Trail run. With all of the ice and snow wore my O spikes.
Yard work 1:00:00 [2]
Last yard clean up. Raked up all of the remaining leaves and put them in the front yard for the county to pick up. Now that the gym is closed for one month for remodeling have to do something for an upper body workout.

Friday Dec 16

Running 1:28:00 [1]11.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
Lost time going through ice in places plus ran some of this on trails. Time to start rebuilding my mileage base. Half thought about racing the 5K on Saturday; not sure I am ready for a sprint race now.

Wednesday Dec 14

Running 55:00 [1]7.0 mi (7:51 / mi)
Time to start training.

Tuesday Dec 13

Running 39:00 [1]5.0 mi (7:48 / mi)
With so little running in the last few weeks my legs felt fresh. Ran very easy at this pace despite the cold and light wind. This time I bought men's sneakers since none of the women's seemed to fit right.
Core Training 1:35:00 [2]
More yoga just this time tried a level one course that is supposed to be a little bit more advance. Poises a little bit tougher with a different instructor. Very stretched out after the class.
Running 16:00 [1]2.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
Running to and back from the class.

Sunday Dec 11

Core Training 1:45:00 [3]
Yoga class with a different instructor. This one did a little tougher poises plus the class was a little bit longer. Felt very stretched out afterwards. Lots of people attending; 20+ for a Sunday afternoon. I liked the instructor better as he seems to push the class a bit more.
swimming 30:00 [2]0.5 mi (59:58 / mi)
Did some laps, kicking and water running. The class before made me a lot more flexible.

Saturday Dec 10

Bike riding 25:00 [1]
After taking the last two days off figured it was time to train again. rather tired from the Boston trip and the flight so slept a lot on Thursday night to catch up on much needed sleep.
Cross training 10:30 [3]2 km (5:15 / km)
rowing machine.
Weightlifting 30:00 [2]
Lifted 70 lbs for my hamstrings. Kept the curls on 100 eventhough it felt light. Not sure if it is hard on the knees. Did 100+ sit up and 20 push ups.
Cross training 10:00 [1]
Used the step machine to show someone else how to use it and get a workout. Went over to the bike after this.

Friday Dec 9

Cross training 20:00 [1]
Shoveling out the driveways and walks from the three inches of snow we had overnight. Did not think it was that bad to drive in, but when I arrived to work the schedule was on a two hour delayed start so I had my pick of parking spots.

Wednesday Dec 7

Running 26:55 [1]3.4 mi (7:54 / mi)
Ran with my brother on a cold and very windy eve. He had his GPS on so we knew the distance. He does not run much so I just stayed with him the whole way. stretched some before and after.

Tuesday Dec 6

Walking 18:00 [1]1.5 mi (11:59 / mi)
Walked home from the train station.
Bike riding 41:00 [1]
Did the strength training program on a stationary bike.
Weightlifting 25:00 [1]
Lifted with the few weight they have at my brother's company gym. Did leg curls, lat pull down, bicep curls, bench press and rows, plus 100 sit-ups. Some of this time is stretching.

Monday Dec 5

Walking 18:00 [1]1.5 mi (11:59 / mi)
Walked to the train station. Walked more in Boston, but did not add this distance.

Saturday Dec 3

Bike riding 1:15:00 [3]17.0 mi (4:23 / mi)
Went mountain biking in the town forest with my brother. Had to bike over on the roads so averaged 17+ mph once I was on the trails slowed to about 10 mph. Temps around 30 wore lots of layers and stayed plenty warm. Stopped briefly to look at all the work the beavers did.

Friday Dec 2

Bike riding 30:00 [1]
After the flight wanted to do something with my legs. Went to a small gym with my brother and used the stationary bike. Wanted to get ready for Saturday when we might bike on trails. Spent about two hours assembling the second bike after my brother's other bike kept breaking down to much.
Elliptical trainer 10:00 [3]
Went on this trainer for a while, just boring so went to the weights.
Weightlifting 20:00 [1]
lifted weights with the little they had. Did 100 sit-ups.

Thursday Dec 1

swimming 20:00 [1]0.6 mi (33:18 / mi)
Did not have much time to swim. Needed to get home and pack.
