Biathlon race 23:53 [5] 4.7 km (5:05 / km)
first race of the season. Glad I trained for the shooting all winter so I could miss all 10 targets. the race is really 4K with all of the penalty loops made it this distance. last time at this race ran it in 2517 and only hit one target so ran faster. ended up winning by about one minute. When I set the windage the air was calm just once the range was closed and the race started the winds picked up so at the first stop it was around 10 mph, but not consistently thought I was adjusting so missed all of the prone. once I returned for the standing more wind and still tried to adjust and never got any. realized when I shot after the competition was over that I did not adjust enough. I was so embarrassed about winning that I stayed at the range and just practiced the shooting. the range owner offered that I could use the biathlon range for free; it is 3.5 hours away, but with all of my practice indoors I might be taking him up on his offer.
Shooting 2:00:00 [1]
setting the windage before the race and practice afterwards on both paper and metal targets. started the hang of it shooting in changing wind speed. shot better prone and did somewhat OK standing. I have been wanting to shoot outside around near the house just no luck finding a place near by so had to stay with the indoor training.
Running warm up/down 16:00 [1] 2.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
around the course and after on the roads.

Friday Apr 18

Running 24:00 [1] 3.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
arrived at the venue and the course was open so ran on it to loosen up my legs after the long drive. Mapquest said it would take 3.5 hours, but after looking at the map realized it would be longer plus a large car accident and several other jams made for a long drive. Legs still felt fine, but after going through the first long backup stopped at a rest area and jogged, walked and stretched plus eat and did not drive again unitl I felt good. went by the range, but not allowed to shoot only the sport targets were set not the match. dried fired some in the hotel.

Thursday Apr 17

Shooting 50:00 [1]
did not want to overdo it so shot 30 rounds prone and 70 standing. at first only ok standing and finished with 30 out of 30. only OK shooting prone.

Wednesday Apr 16

Running warm up/down 31:00 [1] 4.0 mi (7:45 / mi)
ran to the track and back.
Running intervals 9:30 [4] 1.25 mi (7:35 / mi)
ran 5 X 200 in 42, 40, 41, 40, 40. with 200 recovery. I don't think I was warmed up enough for the first one.
Rowing warm up/down 10:00 [1]
before weightlifting.
Weightlifting 1:20:00 [2]
started with odds and ends running drills for more warm up and stretching out. Continued with some medicine ball drills, lots of upper body including standing rows, core work and ended with sprints.
Elliptical trainer warm up/down 10:00 [1]
cool down after lifting. Different kind of eliptical trainer so wanted to try it out.
Shooting 1:20:00 [1]
arrived at the range and realized I forgot my shooting glove that was in my other gym back so had to make do without. Shot somewhat well prone; the glove seems to help more with prone shooting. did really well standing, just can feel it on my hand so can not shoot without it day after day because my hand will get really sore. shot 130 rounds.

Tuesday Apr 15

Running 39:00 [1] 5.0 mi (7:48 / mi)
Planned to run intevals just by the time I warmed realized I did not have enough time to run and make it to work on time. Will do them later in the day. after the massage last night legs feel pretty good.
Shooting 1:20:00 [1]
after cleaning the gun really well it shot much better. prone got 9 out of 10 in the 10 ring. also did much better standing shooting over 80%. shot 150 rounds.

Monday Apr 14

Shooting 15:00 [1]
dried fired. also really cleaned the gun by using a brass brush to get all the crap that accumulated in the barrel. I will see Tuesday if this helped since the extra crud takes away some of the accuracy. Doubled checked the trigger pull since I like it set on the least amount that is allowed for competition.

Sunday Apr 13

Running 45:00 [1] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
trail run.
Weightlifting 1:00:00 [2]
did single leg extension, planks front and side, push ups with the bosu, balancing with the bosu, hamstring curl, sit ups, shoulder press, 2 different bicep curls, squat to overhead press with 35 pds, single leg shoulder pull, tricep pull down, flys, etc. My shoulder was actually a tad sore/stiff when I started this made it feel better.
