Running 1:32:00 [3] 18.0 km (5:07 / km)

Aiming for the long run with a few hill ints but bumped into the Aths crew at yarra bend park.
Jumped into some x-country style intervals
5x 3min approx. triangle loop with with 3min recov. Good bit of up and down with turns.
Continued with the regular yarra trail loop. Good to get the legs moving again.

Morning strength and stretch routine. I have voweled to do this 3x week. Frustrating and rather poor form to still have a left hamstring issue 6 mths on from marathon.

From the Hutong to Tiananmen Square. Beijing is massive so the map looked like it was just in the next neighbourhood but it wasn't. I'd heard it's illegal to run without a face mask so I was a little nervous running past the 100 or so cops I did. No need for one anyway.. Good/low level of pollution after some windy days. I think my white exposed legs were more of a shock to the locals.
Fly home this afternoon. Looking forward to getting back into some consistent training.

Last night in Beijing before flying home tomorrow. It's been pretty cool in china, a real culture shock from the very orderly (and lacking outspoken personality) Japanese. Great Wall today was incredible!

Haven't entered my training from japan mainly because I didn't have time to breath. Here it is..


Monday 28th
40min
The burbs of Tokyo, found a park which wasn't open and ran around it doing a mona. Slow and tired.
Onto the mountains, ryokan today for onsens and temples

Tues
85min
Jog around the streets, hills and temples of takayama. Pierre and Francois joined me for last 30. Pretty cruisey.

Wednesday
45min
3x hill ints up takayama old castle hill. 3min up 4min down. Japan doesn't do undulating, ridiculously steep.
Onto himeji today to check out the impressive wooden castle.

Thurs
35 min
Around himeji castle moat and some streets.
Traveled to Hiroshima to view atomic boom zone and onto Miyajima island for a cool temple on the water.

This was an epic day and I'm getting pretty tired of traveling and eating out now.

Fri
70min 2xmona
Suffering a serious case of site seeing legs but was nice to check out hiroshima a bit more. Through memorial park, past the nice castle and gardens, then dodged the streets to hilly forest just west of city.

Travel back to Tokyo as I write this.. Tomorrow onto Beijing for 2 days.
