As flagged last night, scaled my ambitions for this morning back a bit - was originally thinking 90 minutes but ended up being a bit more than that. A better start than last week, then a steady, rather grinding run. Didn't heat up this morning as quickly as I'd feared - particularly when there were signs that the northerly was about to get going about halfway through - but still humid enough to be challenging - not really a day to be pushing the boundaries. Struggling a bit at the end and finished thinking that I wouldn't have fancied another 20 minutes, but the Hawdon Street hill will often do that to you.
The opening stage of this run was through West Heidelberg, to pick up Ajax Court (not sure if it's pronounced as in the cleaning product or the Dutch football team) and Alamein Road, into country where front lawns bear a variety of vehicles in assorted states of (un)roadworthiness. Also picked up Alan Court in Bundoora, in a 1950s/1960s subdivision where the main street is Patricia and the side streets are Alan, Darren, Judith and Rae; I don't think I'd be speculating too wildly if I suggested that someone, probably the developer, named the main street after his wife and the side streets after his kids.
And, surprisingly, it
wasn't the NT News which featured the opening paragraph:
"A man has escaped conviction and kept his drivers' licence after driving a motorised esky to McDonald's while drunk on pineapple vodkas and low-carb beers."
