Much better results today, probably the best race of the season. Took on the mentality of just going in to fight the dragons in the moment. This dragon has been growing a long time now and now it's time to start actually taking chinks out of the armour once step of the time. All I was focused on in the first half of the race was Lawland's bib, just stared at it and made moves to not lose his bib in the crowd of the race. Made moves accordingly with still doubts in my mind and when those came I just said in my head "let's go fight that dragon". The first k was good, and in the second k the pace slowed a little but this was were the majority of the doubts came and still dismissed them with let's go fight this dragon. It was here were I started to hurt and I thought what can I do? So I started going to the arms. In the second k it really wasn't noticeable on the video that I went to the arms but it did get me back in to the race mentally. Then we got into the final k and I had done a pretty good job setting myself up to be competitive here. Me in other four guys in the front were pushing away from the group, but I was still afraid and lost the mantra of just going in and fighting that dragon and just stuck off the back end of the group. I did this because I was looking at those five guys as too big of threat. "If I pass these guys I have to pass all of them". At this point I just needed to stay with my mantra of going in and fighting the dragon, and just start moving in on one guy. I probably would have found myself then going to pass the next guy and maybe the next guy. I just needed to break this into sizeable morsels. Looking at the race afterwards I can clearly see that the speed of my arms looked better than the other guys, so I know I probably maybe could have won and definitely gotten closer to my best. Still glad that I was able to set myself up and fight the fear and the doubt during the race and still be in a good position by the end. Definitely steps forward and I can finally actually see a path forward.

Shakeout run before OUA's tomorrow. Legs are feeling a little sore and the achilles has been bugging me lots this week despite the extra recovery that I have been giving it. Ran for 15 and then did some hip mobility stretch and roll and rolled the shit out of my neck.
