A very windy morning in Aberdeen and it was hard work running along the Esplanade into the wind. However once turned around it was good to have the wind on our backs. Makes a change to run beside the sea with waves crashing in and the birds surfing the air currents.

A long time since I ran on Hurstwood but remembered the old quarries and the tussocks. Now being an M65 the worst of the tussocks was avoided and we spent most of the course in the quarries.
Started slowly as we went straight into a very technical area and it was difficult to keep on line with all the re-entrants, spurs and depressions. Got the hang by 3 for which I had the fastest split. Longer leg to the second quarry area and I missed the much quicker route along the path by the side the reservoir, my choice was definitely more interesting but a couple of minutes slower. Back to the main quarries, 3 controls spiked and short misses on the next 2, controllers need to ensure that planners cut circles and joining lines that hide contour features, particularly tag lines on depressions.
Rest of course was a run to the finish with one needless descent followed by a climb back up through tussocks.
Overall very pleased with my run in a good technical area bathed in sunshine.
Forgot to stop watch at finish, race time 76.18
