Kai got away out of 1 and after that it was basically just running.

First butterfly was solid and I almost did the garden one well too except on the way to the last hub control visit I started to unfold my map to read the long leg out and screwed up. Kai passed me there and then I slowed down, realized that after 25 I might as well try to run really fast since navigation was unnecessary, hauled ass, got really close to Mark and Kai by 27 but still finished a ways back.

As I was rounding the corner out of 2 Thomas was rounding the corner in so we crashed into each other and my thigh got kneed! Great start. Had to stop and stand there until it subsided enough to move but the rest was good.

Quad's been hurting ever since then though so I was somewhat limping around all day. Racing was okay though it just took a few minutes of warming up each time to get rid of the limp.

Took an awful route to 1 and had to fight through a ton of blackberry bushes. Did some more dumb things but after 5 it was fine although for a while I was still worried I wasn't leading.

Fun, fast race with some tricky controls on stairs. Was chasing Thomas for the whole thing except one control.

Night-o! At least my headlamp cooperated for once. Everyone started really fast so I was worried about Kai being able to outrun me. Got away a little going to 9 though, but once I got there I was a little far west and got caught and flustered and ended up running all the way to 16 and back instead of identifying the features south to relocate. Slowed down after that until Eric's train caught me at 14, then saw Kai again at 17 and completely booked it but tripped on 18 and went the long way around the sand pit on 19 and ended up a little behind. Not that it even mattered by that point though.

Haven't logged lately b/c strava is easier but maybe I'll update the past few weeks of run descriptions soon. Other than that we do core basically every weekday practice and I don't sleep enough.

Legs are very very painful b/c of yesterday but surprisingly the warm-up didn't hurt as much as moving all day did.

Mercedes hill reps at the Stanford dish gate which is going up a while and then down and back up and down. Supposed to do 3 but it got cut short after 2 b/c on their way up one of the guys bumped some lady who was walking downhill and she got super salty and complained to the coach. Chill.

One month later we actually go to the weight room but instead of using any of the machiney equipment we just use various weights for squats and stuff. 15 lbs. Legs died.

Lunge 50, 150 stride for 2 laps, one lap with side squats, two laps just walk running. Soooo slow at lunges got lapped by the guys in a lap.
