Orienteering race (EIOC Middle-Sprint) 51:22 [3] **** 5.6 km (9:10 / km) +100m 8:25 / km
ahr:196 max:216 spiked:30/30c shoes: Solomans S-LAB feelcross 3

My watch told me that i had done 7.8km

Today was a little bit better than yesterday, it was still as technical but i found it a little better navigating.
Normally when you start an event you have the correct control description, I started my race thinking i had the M21E one but actually ended up having the W21E control description. This was quite a frustrating start to my race with me being confused at the first control even through i knew i was at the right place. This took me three controls to realise.

Everything was going good, my legs weren't as strong as the day before they were a bit tired and with it being a main up hill start it didn't help at all.

Navigation was working perfectly for me at this point, route choices where spot on and were good in my perspective. This was all the case until control #15, i made the biggest rookie mistake ive made in a while and completely missed orientated my map and headed off onto the wrong path to #15, in this case i was confused and relocated (luckily this was done fast but a few times). When i figured out my mistake i managed to find the control quickly and had good navigation for the rest.

The coolest part of todays race was that we had a control out on a floating jetty, which made it really awesome. Good experience is being gained and memories being made, also realising that i need to work more on endurance and hill training before i focused on speed.

Orienteering race (EIOC WRE Sprint) 29:54 [3] ***** 2.9 km (10:19 / km) +40m 9:39 / km
ahr:203 max:214 spiked:26/26c shoes: Salomon S-Lab Sense Ultra

Distance showed as 4km on my watch by the end of the event and chatting around it seemed to be the case fr everyone else as well.

Start to #1 wasn't the greatest, wasn't quite used to the style of the mapper and he mapped very differently to your normal map, well I thought.

All was going good after that until control #3 which i still believe was in the wrong place or there was a mapping error, but didnt take too long to find just was frustrating. From here all was good until i entered my first ever section of map that had multiple levels on it, and damn was that confusing. When leaving #15 I read my map normally thinking it wasn't multiple layers, i just happened to be on the lower layer when i had to be up top, this waited a few more seconds than i had planned when i was trying to figure out what was going on. From this point i was pushing really hard and believed i was making some good route choice decisions. I finished off as hard as i could.

Was a very good map on the point of view of gaining experience. Had quite a few international Europeans in the elite category which made racing extremely faster than normal in my case.

Orienteering (Trail-O/PreO) 48:00 [3]
shoes: Asics FuzeX TR

Tried out a new concept of Orienteering with the Danish Family, where we were required to use control descriptions to determine whether there was a control in the are (A,B,C,D or E) was in the correct exact spot of the control description. These werent your normal control description though. Found it as a good training session and a good practice for technical skills. Was also a good opportunity to do some networking and making new friends in the world of Orienteering which is always great.

Running (Egypt Domina Resort) 8:00 [3] 2.0 km (4:00 / km) +45m 3:36 / km
ahr:178 max:200 shoes: Solomans S-LAB feelcross 3

Short run, just too keep my legs fresh and ready for the WRE Sprint on Friday and my races on Saturday and Sunday.

Didin't want to push myself to hard now, but it makes a huge difference being at sea level while racing. feels like a whole new fitness level

Orienteering race (U #1 St Johns) 30:44 [3] 4.4 km (6:59 / km) +89m 6:21 / km
ahr:197 max:210 shoes: Solomans S-LAB feelcross 3

Good strong race, might have had a bit to much map contact in the technical areas, but giving it was the first race for the year i am happy with a clean navigational race.

Need to work on my speed now and making sure i have less map contact and plan more ahead.
