Orienteering race (JWOC Relay) 1:00:00 [3] 5.7 km (10:32 / km) +450m 7:33 / km
shoes: Vj Bold 7

This was not the best race of the JWOC week at all. My legs were finished, I struggled to think and plan my route choices correctly.

I started as part of the mass start, and had a uphill to the first control which wasn't great. I managed to navigate well until control #5 where everything just went wrong.....

After continuing after #5, I continued along going strong with navigation but the running side wasn't great at all. My fitness levels were to low and I was not able to keep my pace for the rest of the race which made things really slow.

Orienteering race (JWOC Middle F) 48:41 [3] 3.1 km (15:42 / km) +175m 12:15 / km
shoes: Vj Bold 7

The plan for the Middle final was just to have a good clean race.

Unfortunately this was not the case to control #2, I had everything planned out, had a good route choice (so i thought), I had good attack points and everything, but still this leg didn't go my way. I took quite a long time to figure out where I was so I could relocate correctly. Once I had punched control #2, I was going strong again, having clean legs with good route choices.

This event was great as majority of it was a downhill race, luckily I could move downhill a quite a speed, which atleast helped me cut some of my wasted time off.

Orienteering race (JWOC Middle Q) 55:05 [3] 3.7 km (14:53 / km) +140m 12:31 / km
shoes: Vj Bold 7

The Middle Qualification Event was a very stressful event for me, I was chosen to have the GPS tracker for the event.

During this event I just thought about having a good clean race. This was the case for the first two controls.

To control #3 I had taken an incorrect bearing and headed lower than the actual control and plan. After some wasted time I relocated correctly and found the control.

After this I once again had a good clean race until control #7 which I once again went to low, but this time I was a lot faster at relocating.

I had a good run, was happy with the race I had. Just need to work on bearings and fitness.

Orienteering race (JWOC Long) 2:40:40 [3] 8.8 km (18:15 / km) +450m 14:32 / km
shoes: Vj Bold 7

This was an event I wasn't really looking forward, To me it felt as if i ran 15 km and had about 600 m of climb. I physically wasn't ready for this race and mentally I wasnt ready either.

Fortunately I finished the race strong being 10 minutes over the cut off time which was a little disappointing but alot of experience was gained

Orienteering race (JWOC Sprint ) 18:34 [3] 3.7 km (5:01 / km) +100m 4:25 / km
shoes: Salomon S-Lab Sense Ultra

Startng off with an early start, being the 24th person out for the day.

My course started off really strong, I was hitting control perfectly, I was feeling stronger as well.

Everything was going good and well until control #8 between control #7 and #8 was a very long leg. I hadnt fully planned my leg and ended up making a longer more complicated route choice then i was hoping, plus my fitness at this point was killing me.

Going into the Spectator I was going strong again, but struggled to plan for control #14 so slowed down coming out of the control.

I finished off strong and happy with my race besides it noting be what i had hoped.

Andries had now arrived so we decided to head back to Lavin for a training session with Andries so he could get used to the maps before the races coming up in the next week.

I took a slow walk around with Andries to make sure he was understanding some of the features on the map and understanding what he should and shouldnt do in this terrain.
