Monday Apr 30

trolls ride. small group this morning, and not so fast, but suffered greatly. got dropped and cruised the last 3rd with Erica. I think its time to ease back the training a little before next weekend.

Sunday Apr 29

Orienteering race 40:00 [4]5.8 km (6:54 / km)
relay at Ripley Hills. ran in the '2 chicks and a cripple' team with Rachel and Oli. Went out about 2 mins behind Tim, and could see him in the distance from about half way round. Got a minute on one route choice (to 5), and was slowly catching him, but ran out of course and finished 7 secs behind.

3 hour cyclegaine out at Boonah. Good fun, and some nice riding, but a bit stuffed from this morning, and Dan was pushing me up the hills at the end. We won by a couple of hundred points.

race elements. mainly arm and core stuff after my bike crash yesterday - knee is looking a bit puffy.

tried to go for a run. managed a slow shuffle. not pretty. still hurting from the crash - brusies hurt lots running.

MTB at Daisy hill with Dan and Shane. Tough ride trying to keep up with the guys (or at least not make them wait too long!). I crashed (of course) twice, and got some good bruises and a leaky knee out of the first one. Dan decided that my crashes must be because my bike is not up to scratch (couldn't possibly be that I'm a total muppet, or that I haven't ridden mtb in a couple of months) and that he's going to build me a new bike! yay!

Went climbing in the evening. Did one and a half climbs and then decided it was time for dinner. really couldn't be bothered tonight. (and still had that beaten-up feeling from the bike crash)

collecting controls. fortunately I managed to get quite a few helpers and we were all finished and ready to go home by 3!! heaps of people at the event - 173 must be some kind of record!!

putting out controls and water for my event tomorrow. very long day and was out there for a bit over 7 hours, but pretty happy that everythings in the right place. I think the courses are pretty good, but its going to be tough - the hills are massive!

Trolls ride, but did the cruisy version with wendy and brett who were on mtbs. still suffered though! feeling reallly tired and sore - too much time working in the glasshouse.

Race elements with Imo and coach Simon. wanted to chuck by the end.

started the training session with the uq guys, but got dropped pretty quickly, so just cruised in towards the city by myself. had a short break halfway back when I ran into thor and stopped for a chat.

trolls ride. got my new trolls kit yesterday!

Anzac park run (28mins) + warm down. ran with rachel and pete. felt pretty tired before we started, but still ran reasonably quickly.
Note
Climbing at Kangaroo Point. Took Pete along and he managed to take a little fall and hit his shin on a pointy rock, resulting in a big hole in his shin. 6 hours at the hospital, and 4 stitches. doc also recons he might have a chip out of his shin bone, so further investigation required if it still hurts in a week or so.

1k easy, 5k fast, 5*1min hard w/ 1min rec, 5k fast and then home.

Orienteering race 1:09:00 [5]10.3 km (6:42 / km)
classic race in SA. had a very average start and stuffed around on the first few controls, then made a big mistake and relocated off 10 on the way to 9. kirsten caught me there and ran with me for the rest. pretty fast and clean after that.

Orienteering race 37:12 [5]4.9 km (7:36 / km)
middle distance champs. won by a few seconds! started pretty well, had a couple of dodgy controls in the middle, and a few lucky ones too. lost some time at 11? in the wrong gully, and then was totally random on the one after the spectator control. took some less than good route choices on the last few - ran through all the rocks and fallen timber I could possibly find just to make life difficult :-(

galaxy sprint. had a pretty good race, lost a bit of time on 3, but pretty clean apart from that. felt really good racing - nice change after last weekend! 6secs behind grace and 1 behind kathryn - so close!!

run along the beach at double island point. didn't really mean to run for this long, but didn't take a watch and lost track of time. high tide, and the sand was really soft, so pretty tough going.
