Fun weekend! mont 24 in a mixed 4 team - Race Elements muppet convention! Rode with Nic, Lisa and Nigel. Great little team - Nic rides a fair bit and doesn't really deserve the muppet label, but Lisa hardly trains, I only started emergency mtb training 2 weeks ago (when I had serious trouble going round a corner) and Nigel hadn't been on a bike since the epic. It was all fairly cruisy until the 9am results went up and we found we were in 3rd in our category, but only 4mins ahead of 4th.... so then things started getting a little more serious, and we ended up 3rd in the end! yay!

Dan's team rode really well, and ended up 7th in the pro mens 4s.

first ride on my new mtb! it was great! I love my new bike!!

went with Dan, Dave, Jus and Imo.... so I was definitely the slowest! went from slaughter falls up to the lookout, over to 3 sisters, down dingo, up to highwood tce, bronwyns, vietnam, back to highwood, down jacobs and lantana, back up dingo and 3 sisters, then down telstra and the toilet block track. was very tired!!! there are lots of big hills in that!! found quite a few things that were too hard for me to ride as well.

race elements. training with simon again this week. recovery week this week, so not stupidly sore now, but did have an interesting moment on the bench press when simon decided that brookes scribble meant 35kg as well as the bar, not including the bar.... managed to control the decent so it didn't snap me in half, but there was no way I was lifting it up again!

late afternoon ride at Gap Creek with Dan. started off in muppet land - was riding like total crap, but eventually started to get it together. did the new top section of lantana (jacobs) for the first time - absolute magic - the best mtb track I've ever ridden!

ran the border track at lamington from binna burra to o'reillys. now in much pain! felt pretty average (not really surprising given how much running i've done lately) and struggled on the hills. the real killer was the last km before o'reillys - gentle downhill, but they've concreted it cos its a very high use track - absolute murder on the legs!

f-ing fast friday. I think we were heading for some sort of record speed this week, until some of the guys wused out and decided to wait for all the people that'd been dropped. faster than monday, but I was keeping up a bit easier. maybe i'm actually getting fit again!
got a flat on the way home.

had some weird achy pain around the top of my left shin. feels kinda like the deep pain i had with shin splits ages ago... its not from running (cos I haven't) and I don't see that it would be from cycling - unless its some of the stabilsation muscles feeling totally crapped out.

still a bit tired and sore from yesterdays ride.


going up to lamington to run the border track (to do the car swap so that mum can walk it in the other direction)... but haven't run since woc. I think I should try and do something so it doesn't hurt too much... but I'm kinda lazy and can't really be bothered. so - will avoiding potential pain motivate me enough to do some training?

trolls - first time in ages that I've been on monday, and it was a world of pain. group rode super fast today (mainly dan's fault) and it nearly killed me. got pushed back up to the group a couple of times, but didn't get dropped yay! heart and lungs still hurting!!

just got back from being at carnarvon gorge for a week - photos up on facebook soon. did a fair bit of bushwalking (but not really worth logging), read some books and drank some beer - top holiday!
