Thursday Jul 31

Note
(injured)
went to doc. thumb is really sore and swollen. not broken, but busted tendon that makes thumb work. got a cool plastic brace thing instead of cast so I can keep skiing.

Wednesday Jul 30

Skiing 6:00:00 [2]
more skiing. had a few goes on the blue runs. fell over and landed on my ski pole and hurt my thumb. very tired. skiing is hard!

Tuesday Jul 29

Skiing 6:00:00 [2]
Skiing yay! first day of skiing ever. spent the morning on the baby slopes with the magic carpets. made it to the first proper green run in the afternoon. had a crack at a blue run - way scary!

Wednesday Jul 23

Note
watched the alp d'huez stage at the cafe. classic!
looks like they've booked us in to watch the final time trial too now!
C • Is that the one of booze Park road? 1

Monday Jul 21

Gym 50:00 [4]
Training at Race E. Cathy was sick, so there was only me for Bec to pick on this week. New programme - tough!

Sunday Jul 20

MTBO race 1:42:00 [4]29 km (3:31 / km)
MTBO event at woodford. token appearance at an mtbo event this year. quite fun area, but a bit too much mud (really over the mud thing after the last couple of weeks). map was quite good - all tracks mapped with gps, so they were definitely in the right place!... and therefore no probs at all with nav. Dan beat me by 12 mins :-( but I had to beat Thor.

Saturday Jul 19

Cycling 2:00:00 [3]
cruisy mtb at daisy hill. felt pretty crappy, just wanted to go to sleep. had a 3 hr sleep at lunchtime. still really tired.

Friday Jul 18

Note
(injured) (rest day)
still feeling pretty smashed from the crashes on the weekend - techinicolor bruised knees, and my right hand doesn't work so well. hope it gets better soon, want to do some training again on the weekend!

Sunday Jul 13

Cycling 7:25:00 [5]100 km (4:27 / km)
Noosa enduro.
very long day out. the word was that the first half (the "flat" half) was going to be really hard because there had been heaps of rain and it was really muddy.... but it turned out to be fine - heaps of muddy creek crossings, but not much mud in between. there were a few wrong turns - the elite start group got sent for a lap of town at the start, and passed us again about 10mins into the race, then a heap of people missed a turn. the pack that Dan was in did about an extra 17k, I made it about 1k down that rd before they all came back and we figured out where to go.
the second "hilly" half started well with some nice rolling hills and really fun descents, then lots of pushing my bike up hills... and then the rain started. The 'arm pumper' (crazy shute straight down the side of a mountain) was a muddy slippery slide, and all the hills after that were too slippery to ride up or down (I tried, and crashed lots!). The last part of the course was really slow, and it was a big relief to finally finish.
came in 2nd in open women (but a fair way behind the elites).
Dan won the single speed category by a fairly huge margin, and was about 12th overall in elite.
C • huge day out 5

Thursday Jul 10

Event: WOC 2008

Cycling 2:00:00 [3]
mtb ride in gap creek with Dan and Matt. Went to check out a new trail in GC west... which didn't really exist yet, so we had a fairly long bushbash to get out again. Rode with the AyUps instead of the HID - heaps better and could see really well - even enough to keep up!

Wednesday Jul 9

Running 20:00 [3]
(injured)
Lap of the uni. Running felt shocking (so unfit now!), but itb wasn't too bad. Pretty much the same as the weekend - tight, but not sore. lots of stretching now!

Monday Jul 7

Gym 50:00 [5]
super hard week at Race.

Sunday Jul 6

Orienteering race 28:22 [4]3.7 km (7:40 / km)
ran the red 4 at bettong (been many years since I've run something other than red1 in qld!) and decided I may as well do it properly. was doing good o for the first half, but then got a bit off line cos I was too lazy/stuffed to run up the hill properly. lost a couple of mins there, and some more time cos they disguised the finish as a blue control and I nearly got up to the download tent before I realised. narrowly avoided getting beaten by a 13yr old boy.
itb was about the same as the other day - tight, but not painful, and not restricting my running. hopefully will continue to improve.
running fitness is all gone - and the gentle hills were a major battle to run up.
Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Saturday Jul 5

Cycling 3:10:00 [3]
around the state forests in maryb. on assignment for geoff, checking out some potential new areas to map. one area looked good - awesomely open and fast, with lots of little creek details. the other area was lantana infested shite. got lost for a little while (using 1:100000 forestry maps from about 1857), but found myself again after a while.
found some pretty good mtbing tracks too - good training for noosa enduro next weekend!

Friday Jul 4

Cycling 1:50:00 [3]
tried to ride the most direct way from our accommodation to bettong. found a rd that ended in a mandarin packing shed, but the friendly farmer showed me the way across the farm to where the very overgrown track continued on the other side. more adventures in a sugarcane farm before I got to the state forest. then some pretty exciting mtbing to get to where we were starting the training.
Orienteering 1:00:00 [1]
putting out controls for control picking exercise - tricky!

itb was tight, but not sore. lots of stretching etc, then a no running day tomorrow. will try a short course at the OY on sunday.

Thursday Jul 3

Cycling 2:30:00 [4]
rode to the map and back from our accommodation nth of childers. really boring dirt rd with heaps of corrogations. smashfest on the way home to get it over and done with as quickly as possible.

Wednesday Jul 2

Cycling 30:00 [2]
Drove up to maryb for the junior camp. took the bike out for a quick lap of the map while waiting for the kids to finish. good to stretch the legs after many hours in the car.

Tuesday Jul 1

Cycling 1:30:00 [3]37 km (2:26 / km)
river loop with Lisa. cold and foggy this morning. rode slow, and coughed up heaps of junk out of my lungs (gross!). knee and hip were ok, but shoulder/neck really sore. getting a massage tonight, so should get some of that sorted out.
