Orienteering race 1:28:39 [4] 9.1 km (9:45 / km) +255m 8:33 / km

OY1 at Leyburn. Hills + rocky ground + green + hot. fun and games. Started 2mins behind SS, but beat him to the first control by quite a bit. should have ignored him from then on, but miss-read the creeks on 3 and thought he was near the control - stopped and figured it out before heading off down the creek though, so not much time lost.

he and a few others caught up at the spot where 4 should have been. quick lap of the area confirmed we were in the right place, but the control wasn't to be found. bit of a lap of the green area before I saw the control on 5 - just didn't see the flag on the first pass.

pretty good for the next few controls, but found it hard to keep running strong with the rocky ground and green shite. had a couple of misses later on - mainly cos I got pushed around too much trying to find easy running in the terrain. last km or so was nice easy running in vague, but technically difficult terrain,,, would have been much nicer to run a hagaby in this area!

good run to have done, but mainly highlights how much terrain strength I'm lacking at the moment.

Running long 1:25:00 [3]

shorter long run this week - got a race on this afternoon. ran from Wendy's with Thor, Biddy, Rachel and Tony. Didn't feel so great... maybe sav-blanc and brie don't make such a good dinner after all.

Cycling race 30:00 [5]

Dirt crit at the in2adventure dirt fest. 20mins + 3 laps. started at the same time as the boys, which made the start pretty crazy. kim and narelle took off at the start, and I pulled back half of the gap on narelle through the race, but really didn't have enough in my legs on the climb. the rest of the loop was fun - a few jumps, and lots of wide off camber corners. passed one of the guys on the last lap, and finished about 3 secs down on narelle. won $50 and a beer.

Cycling warm up/down 50:00 [2]

warm up/down, and some practice laps... with some helpful advice from Dan.

Running intervals 25:00 [5] 6.0 km (4:10 / km)

3x2km with 3min jog recoveries. felt slow, which isn't surprising after the weekend. didn't slow down as much on the last one as much as last week which was good. focused on the running technique stuff from Friday which seemed to help me not slow down as much. was originally thinking about doing 4, but too tired for that - next week!
8.13 (164 ave, 187 max)
8.11 (160, 183)
8.23 (173, 182)
