Orienteering race 1:11:47 [5] 10.5 km (6:50 / km) +350m 5:52 / km

Easter Day 2 at Kowen forest. Really great course set by Jo. fast the whole way, but super intense as well.
Stuffed up the start - should have stayed on the vegetation boundary between the eucalypt and pine, but ran straight through the eucalypt and ended up near 2. good little reminder to concentrate. took the track route to the left to 5, and ran low around the hill to the left on the run across to 9. felt like I had some good momentum with the course in the last 3rd of the main part of the course, but hit the wall as I ran through the spectator leg. struggled to concentrate on the last few controls, and was a bit high on the control on the little creek halfway round the loop. really pleased with my run overall - felt heaps better running than I have in ages (years?!) and was able to keep running hard the whole way. yay!

Orienteering race 42:07 [4] 4.3 km (9:48 / km) +210m 7:52 / km

Easter Day 1 at Gudgenby homestead. Very tricky course in the low vis. bumbled along at the start - very cautious, but didn't want to risk losing map contact. really struggled running, and walked up the hills :-(
got through the first part of the course up to the radio control without any real dramas, but then the course got heaps faster and I struggled more and more. came down the hill to 19 at totally the wrong angle and lost the plot a bit - my only tactic was to go to the bottom of the hill and look back up for the control, but then saw that I was near a fence and not a powerline and figured it out. lost about 2.30 there. stupid mistake on an otherwise good run. would be nice to have some legs back.

Orienteering race 19:55 [4] 3.2 km (6:13 / km)

Easter prologue at ADFA. Fail. Sleep deprived brain miss-read start time (10mins late). I was at the start, but as it was a 'silent start' they decided they didn't need to tell me I was late until after I'd missed it. then it took a while to find a spot in the start list. got 2 mins credit back, but still had an extra 9.30 on my time.
had an ok run after that. got pretty confused as to what the hell Grant was trying to tell us (so I ran around the garden anyway), and then made a mistake there on the leg to 7, (still didn't work it out the second time I went past, so again went round). also didn't figure out the marked passage to 11, and relocated over near 5.
stupidly tired, and collapsed in a big heap for the rest of the day.

Running 25:00 [2]

easy plod down to anzac park and around the ring road. just to check that my legs would actually go. still feeling a bit sick though, hopefully another nights sleep (although a very short one with a 5.30 flight to canberra!) will help.
