Orienteering race 2:12:31 [5] 18.3 km (7:14 / km)

NOL ultra long. Great area in the southern part of mannawarra. My race started out a bit rubbish - rushed getting ready (didn't read the bit about a 2k walk in) and didn't manage time for a warm up, pre race food or loo stop. but did make the start line. slow going from the beginning and after a couple of stupid mistakes I stopped for a wee, then took a gel at the first water control and things started to improve. ran steadily from mid-way on the first loop - speed wasn't really happening, but avoided any more time loses. ran with michele for a bit, then rachel. finally started to get things together and run well on the last loop and moved up a spot. nearly caught vanessa right at the end, but she got a better line into the final control and ended up 15 secs ahead.
distance was fine - I needed another loop! and I really enjoyed the terrain. a little more spring in the legs early on would have been nice.

Orienteering race 32:43 [5] 5.1 km (6:25 / km)

NOL middle - SA. Event on the northern part of the area that they were using for the ultra long, after the venue got changed mid week. the organising club did well to pull it together, but unfortunately managed to get a control in the wrong place - which was on nearly every course. It was our 3rd control, and after making a mistake on 2 (the map was a bit dodgy in that area) I had no confidence in how I was interpreting the terrain, or that things would be where I looked for them. it was also hard to keep racing given that the race should be cancelled and we had a long way to go tmw.

this was about as clear as it gets for a case where the results are unfair and the organiser should cancel the results, but the organisers ended just ignoring it and letting the results stand (and apparently talked someone out of putting in a complaint). very poor form.

Circuit training 30:00 [3]

4 hours on site trying to persuade our groundwater remediation system to go again. Lots of lifting concrete gatics and pulling pumps out of bores - all while trying not to stress my back out too much pre chiro visit.

Note

Chiro visit. Adjustment to lower back, which apparently should help my stupid knee thing, and lots of work on my upper back to straighten out my hunchback.
