running 1:05:00 [3]

To work. Uneventful, except for almost catching an errant bunker shot in the back of the head when running through the golf course.

Loser at poker last night again. 220 starters, made it to the last 60 or so, but not nearly close enough. No tip for the grand final this week - its too hard to call. If anything, I'd put $1 on a draw. Planning to visit the poker tables on Saturday night to relieve pissed West Coast and Swannies members of their holiday spending money.

cycling 25:00 [1]

Rode home. Back dodgey

Wednesday Sep 27, 2006 #

running 45:00 [3]

Nice jog into work. Left shin not as sore as it has been for the past couple of weeks.

running 35:00 [3]

Too scared to face the FREAKS on the tram I decided I was feeling fine so ran home.

cycling 25:00 [3]

First tentative cycle for a couple of weeks. Back was stiff and sore but didn't go into spasms which was good. Hopefully it will continue this way because I'm sick of having to take public transport to work and dealing with all the FREAKS.

running 35:00 [3]

Slow jog home. Bit sore from weekend

orienteering 38:00 [3]

Tas Champs relays. Cold and wet.

Happy to pick up the $ on the Swans on Friday night.

orienteering 1:28:00 [5]

Rather than tackle the ACT Champs, thought I'd go to the home of World Champions and do the Tas Champs at Littlechild Creek. Had a solid run, only one 2 min mistake, although lots of hesitations and 5-10 sec misses. Managed to sneak in for the win, my second M21 Tas Champs victory - the first being 20 years ago in 1986 ! (Blair - is that some sort of record ?)

Note
(rest day)

Spent some time thinking about why I shouldn't train today. Couldn't come up with anything but by the time I was finished, it was too late to train.

(rest day)

What's the ruling on whether I can put down golf in my training diary ?

OK Swans are a monty this week. I'm putting $$$ on the even money line (+24.5) and just to cover myself, 1/3 of this amount on the outright win ($1.31).

Monday Sep 18, 2006 #

Note
(rest day)

Too much work to do today.

Another big win for Liggo in the footy tipping, continuing my 100% record. If you're not in on my tips, you're a fool. Sad to see the dogs go down.

Anybody interested in a (fully paid for) spot in a hot 6 man team in the Scott 24 hour on 7-8 October ? With such luminaries as Acejase, Dave "killer" Searle, Torgier, Ferg and Malcy ? I can't take up my spot and am looking for a replacement

(rest day)

Went outside, looked for and eventually found my shoes. They had obviously been ripped apart by a huge crazy animal with really sharp teeth. Thought about doing 2.5 hours in my bare feet, but decided against it.

Saturday Sep 16, 2006 #

Note
(rest day)

Stepped out the door, put the runners on, walked up the drive, saw a huge slobbering mean looking dog in the park across the street. Turned around, took the shoes off, went back inside.

Friday Sep 15, 2006 #

Note
(rest day)

Checked my horoscope and it basically advised me to lie low today. So that's what I'm doing.

Note

Forgot to mention - this weeks tip is Freo by 23 or more, which is paying even money at sportsbet.
In other gambling news I came 14th of a field of 179 in a poker tournament last night. Raking in the cash.

Thursday Sep 14, 2006 #

Note
(rest day)

Can't see myself training today. Got a bit of a nick on the chin when shaving and I don't want to get sweaty or dirty - danger of infection.

Wednesday Sep 13, 2006 #

Note
(rest day)

Was going to go to the tan at lunch to battle Bruce and Blair. But just realised my Macca's 2 for 1 lunch deal expires today so had to give the run a miss.

Tuesday Sep 12, 2006 #

Note
(rest day)

Had a massage this morning. No sense going and getting my muscles tight again by running or cycling.

Monday Sep 11, 2006 #

Note

Still feeling average from the weekend. Plus its 9.40 pm and still at the desk. Will try to do some training tomorrow. Promise.

Sunday Sep 10, 2006 #

Note

Started pre-wedding drinking yesterday at 12 noon. Finished at 1am. In no condition to get to Ferg's for his 40th and spent most of the next 9 hours throwing up at Clare's place. No training for some time.

Friday Sep 8, 2006 #

running 35:00 [3]

Late afternoon run to and around the tan with 10 x 250m on 250m off. Felt ok considering I've done 3 straight 13 hour days at work. Strange pain in lower left leg that I haven't had before.

Thursday Sep 7, 2006 #

running 45:00 [3]

To work. Bit of a struggle with hip flexors tight and back sore. Also, my knees which have had a constant dull ache (worse in the morning) since July are getting worse. I suspect arthritis. I should do something about it, but I always forget to - I suspect I've got Altheizmer's (spelling ?) as well.

Wednesday Sep 6, 2006 #

cycling 30:00 [3]

took it real easy. wet and cold and roads slippery as all hell

running 50:00 [3]

Ran home via Dion's who is going to Sunshine Beach for a week. Half his luck. Its freezing here

Tuesday Sep 5, 2006 #

running 45:00 [3]

Run to work. Back is OK when running, but not when sitting down or putting socks on.

running 30:00 [3]

Ran home from work. Tried to up the pace a bit. Failed.

Monday Sep 4, 2006 #

cycling 30:00 [3]

Ride to work. Back is killing me. Took 10 minutes to put my socks on this morning and I have to work standing up at my desk: copping masses of strange looks.

Note

This weeks tips: Adelaide is now back to form and given the Dockers miserable finals record I reckon the Crows at home are good value at $1.90. Also worth some speculation are the Dogs at $2.80, if only for sentimental reasons.

running 1:00:00 [3]

Run home. Cranked it up for the last 10 minutes

Sunday Sep 3, 2006 #

running 1:15:00 [3]

Nice jog around Lysterfield with Clara. Ran to the top of the trig point.

cycling 1:20:00 [3]

MTB ride with Warren, Ferg and Torgy. Mainly technical training, of which I need a lot - my skills have gone backwards and I was chickening out/falling off descents that I did easy earlier in the year. Everyone watched and laughed while I did a slow-speed sail over the handlebars into a patch of gorse. Back pretty sore.

Saturday Sep 2, 2006 #

Note

Love those Dogs, but sheeeesh. That took 5 years off my life. What doesn't kill you... OK, so now I'm taking the winnings and putting half on Richmond to beat West Coast, and the other half on Adelaide to beat Melbourne...

Note
(rest day)

Was going to go for a run but realised my runners were at work. And I was far too lazy to walk upstairs to get my backup shoes.

Friday Sep 1, 2006 #

Note
(rest day)

Rest day today.

Just visited the dentist. Perfect bill of health despite 4 years of neglecting my teeth and a constant diet of pastries and sports drink.

If there's anything worse than being in the dentist's chair with a monster hangover, I'd not like to experience it.

Note

Just so everyone can watch and laugh, this weeks big money bet is for the Dogs to beat Essendon by more than 21 points tonight.
