cycling 1:30:00 [3]

Various cycling including trying to keep up with Haile Gebreselaisse in the Great Australian Run. Bloody hell those guys run fast. Its like they are sprinting for 15ks. Hard to keep up with them on the bike. Impressive run from Ewelsy in the girls race.

running 49:00 [3]

All right. Time to start training properly and trying to lose 2 months worth of flab brought about by serious chocolate abuse. Inspired by Haile I decided to have to a crack at the world record for the Earl St - Bourke Rd Bridge - Golf Course - Chandler Hwy loop (held by P Liggins, 2008, 52.30). Went out hard and despite serious dehydration and losing 30 secs after going the wrong way (I've only done this run approx 100 times before) cracked 49.00. The crowd went wild.

running 1:42:00 [3]

Gentle leisurely stroll along the Yarra with Blair and Bruce

running 40:00 [3]

Ran to work

running 42:00 [3]

Annual summer series outing. Took the first 2 controls easy then headed up the front of the pack and started to move away with some other chap. Felt pretty good running. Then I mixed up controls, headed off in completely the wrong direction, and found myself 300m or so behind. And suddenly all my good form was gone. Struggled on with Blair about 35 secs ahead but couldn't reduce the gap. Then I took the third last and second last in the wrong sequence and blew 15 secs and finally got stuck behind a clubhouse from the last control to the finish costing another 20secs or so. Damn.

Riding from work to summer series and then home

cycling 25:00 [3]

Was going to do a run today but work successfully thwarted that idea.

Monday Nov 17, 2008 #

running 40:00 [3]

Haven't run slower since.. actually I don't think I've ever run slower. Struggling to keep 5.5 min/k at the end

Sunday Nov 16, 2008 #

running 1:29:52 [3]

With Jase from Montmorency around his childhood haunts. Would have preferred to do 90 minutes but Jase's poor sense of pace thwarted that. Endured Jase reminiscing about being tackled by Fraser Brown, attending the Monmorency High dance (Sandra Tarr was so lucky !), playing cricket with Dean Jones (not the Dean Jones), scoring a bag of goals at Montmorency primary etc etc etc etc etc.

A good reminder of why its best to do my long runs solo.

Corker of a morning for a ride to work. Felt pretty good after yesterday's debacle.

Monday Nov 10, 2008 #

running 40:00 [3]

Possibly my worst run all year. Knackered from a 14 hour day after starting at 6.30am and working straight through to 8.30pm. Almost walking in spots.

Sunday Nov 9, 2008 #

cycling 2:30:00 [3] 67.0 km (2:14 / km)

First time doing a decent ride for months. And suffered as a result. Ran into Mr Schepsi. Didn't recognise him at first under his helmet.

Saturday Nov 8, 2008 #

running 1:23:00 [3] 16.8 km (4:56 / km)

Trundled around the river to work. Tacked on to the back of a single file of MFR runners along the river for 500m. They didn't even notice I was there.

cycling 20:00 [3]

Ride home from work. Found this good flat bit on Johnson St where the speed limit is 40km so you can just draft behind the traffic. Good fun.

cycling 1:00:00 [3] 19.0 km (3:09 / km)

Gentle little play on the MTBs around the river with Roobs and Nessa

Friday Nov 7, 2008 #

Note

All day in Brisbane. Bloody heck it was hot

Thursday Nov 6, 2008 #

Note

Massage in the morning and then the afternoon at the races, so no exercise planned.

But then the good people at Connex decided the train network wouldn't work so I got a nice 1 hour walk back to the city from the track. Fine for me but the entire way I was passing chicks in 5 inch heels who were doing it pretty tough.

Wednesday Nov 5, 2008 #

Legs shot.

running 35:00 [3]

Ran home with a bit of pace

Tuesday Nov 4, 2008 #

cycling 45:00 [3] 20.0 km (2:15 / km)

Monday Nov 3, 2008 #

cycling 20:00 [3] 8.0 km (2:30 / km)

running 40:00 [3]

7k at a decent speed, 2k warm down

Sunday Nov 2, 2008 #

running 1:23:00 [3]

wandered out the front door and ran until i started to get tired at which point i turned around and came back

mused as to which, if any, of the following i am likely to see in my lifetime:

- australia becomes a republic
- dogs win a flag
- queensland adopts daylight savings
- someone runs a marathon under 2 hours

the answer is probably none if i keep working like this because i'll be dead before christmas.

Saturday Nov 1, 2008 #

running 1:05:00 [3]

River run. Is it possible to lose all fitness in 3 days ? Seems like it.

Just a standard 7.5 hour day today.
