There's nothing like riding into the teeth of a hurricane to make a bike ride nice and interesting. Almost came off when my bike jumped a gear, as it nowadays has a tendancy to do, while hammering up a hill. Need to take it back to the bike shop. Again.

Need to actually do some training now the Freycinet race is 10 weeks ago and I've done no paddling for a couple of months, and barely any cycling too. Also, am inspired by Jase doing Black Mountain intervals. I never would have believed it ..

Trotted around the river. Legs a bit heavy. Every man/woman and their bloody dogs were out. Large menacing dogs, middle sized frenzied dogs, and tiny annoying dogs. I hate them all equally.

MTB - bike path loop. Tried to keep in low gear and spin. Started cramping a smidge near the end. Wish I had some salty liquorice with me.

Ran over to Ivanhoe flats for sprint training session. Put out controls on one loop and then ran the other. Just beat Dion.

No time for training today. Drove back from Noosa to Melbourne in 18.5 hours which is a massive PB by 1.75 hours.

After consistent snubbings from selectors and despite clearly being Victoria's best runner (see Aus Champs relay results) have decided to run for Tassie next year in National League.

Excellent work by Cadel who is now favourite with the bookies for the tour ($3.40 with Sportsbet). Now is the time for me to brag that I got him for $10 at 14-1 (ie before he completely collapses in the pyrenees and my bet becomes worthless). Let's hope he beats that Danish drug cheat anyway.

Through the national park again. Went quite speedily and made it up the hill two steps at a time. Fortunately no nudists out today - probably because it was pretty cold at 7am.

Evening run along Sunshine Beach towards Coolum. Went pretty hard and felt good.

Waves much better today. Unfortunately all this did was show up my lack of ability. Fun though.

Longer run through the National Park, down Hastings Street and around Noosa Woods and return. Pretty nippy this morning - a few degrees max - but lovely and sunny. Perfect running conditions.

Tried to cover some of the Noosa endura MTB course from previous weekend with dodgy map. Got lost a few times and wasn't going fast but good to discover some nice tracks with running/cycling potential on the edge of Tewantin. Ran out of water at the end so was happy to get to the bakery and scoff jam scrolls. Spent most of the rest of the day sleeping, partly due to having to get up at 4.15am to get Rune to the airport

Longer jog around the National Park with Rune. Run marred by encountering nudists at the first beach but improved a couple of k's later after spotting dolphins from the point. Take away hot chocolates from cafe afterwards.

Arrived at the Sunshine Beach endurance training centre late last night and watched the Tour until late. Did a slow jog with Rune around the National Park.
