running 58:00 [3] 11.06 km (5:15 / km)
weight:71.2kg

YESSSSSSSSSSSS. Roll on hot chocolates ...

Survived the whole week, and injury free. Now for a holiday ...

running 1:02:00 [3] 11.63 km (5:20 / km)
weight:71.6kg

To work.

Sore and tired. Not sure where I'm going to manage 20k between now and tomorrow night given I've got late nights ahead with stacks of work to finish before I go on holidays Thursday evening, plus I can't run tomorrow morning.

running 48:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:20 / km)

Late night struggle.

Its clear people need clues on the Who am I. Think 90s orienteer

cycling 25:00 [3] 10.0 km (2:30 / km)
weight:71.6kg

To work. Meant to run but slept in.

running 1:19:40 [3] 15.23 km (5:14 / km)

Run home via the Yarra bike trail. Pleasant enough evening for it. No foxes though.

OK, here's a Who Am I from his/her graduate yearbook:

Loves: His/Her patchwork jeans
Hates: getting up in the morning, brushing his/her hair
Favourite foods: coffee
Favourite tv show: Northern exposure, SBS movies
Favourite sayings: What!
Most embarrassing moment: Falling and cutting his/her head open while rollerblading at a football match with the marketing group.

First correct entry opened wins a hot chocolate. One guess per child.

cycling 25:00 [3] 10.0 km (2:30 / km)

To work

running 40:07 [3] 7.21 km (5:34 / km)
weight:71.7kg

Shorter run than anticipated because I left my runners at home and had to cycle home and go for a run from there. Coincidentally it was Monday night run at our house so trotted around with Vanessa and the man who was formerly Melbourne's most eligible bachelor. Going to have to pull the finger out for the next 3 days to get to 100.

running 1:36:57 [3] 17.57 km (5:31 / km)

Standard long run. Saw a baby fox in the tall grass, plus two rainbow lorikeets sitting and watching me, so close I could have reached out and touched them.

Target 100 is on track - almost 46ks in 3 days. No serious issues with chocolate yet, despite the girlfriend eating it constantly in front of me. She works for World Vision so is keen to see me lose the bet.

Note
weight:72.5kg (rest day)

OK, this month's charity challenge is whether I can run 100km in the next 7 days (Fri to Thurs). For every person who reckons I can't, and is willing to put a hot chocolate on the line, I'll donate $20 through the World Vision Smiles catalogue should I fail. I'll also vow to go chocolate free for the same period.

And because I'm such a great guy, even if I do manage 100k chocolate free I'll still donate $100.

running 1:00:19 [3] 11.61 km (5:12 / km)
weight:72.1kg

Run to work. Cooler today. Nothing to report, except that I've run 80 kilometres in the past week! Might have a rest day tomorrow and then see if I can't crack 100 in the next 7 days.

cycling 1:03:00 [3] 30.0 km (2:06 / km)

Road bike home via the super. Looking forward to a day off

Tuesday Oct 20, 2009 #

running 1:01:19 [3] 11.68 km (5:15 / km)
weight:72.2kg

To work. Actually warmish today. Nice. Felt much better than last night - nothing like half a loaf of bread and honey to get the glycogen reserves back up

Stretching 1:00 [3]

cycling 1:04:00 [3] 22.0 km (2:55 / km)

Ride home on the MTB with no air in the back tyre

Monday Oct 19, 2009 #

running 47:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:13 / km)
weight:71.8kg

Hit the wall after 25 minutes and had to walk for a bit. Not ideal

cycling 25:00 [3] 10.0 km (2:30 / km)

To work

Stretching 1:00 [3]

Sunday Oct 18, 2009 #

cycling 2:00:00 [3] 55.0 km (2:11 / km)

Down Beach Road. Lots of roads closed due to Around The Bay. There were a lot of plodders around, I think Beach Rd may have been on the 80km ride or something.

As usual, left my water bottle on the bench at home

Legs pretty heavy from training this week.

running 40:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:00 / km)

Evening run. Legs tired but maintained a solid pace. Seem to be getting a bit of strength back.

Finally worked out (after 2.5 years) how to download podcasts to my ipod/iphone. Was listening to the English equivalent of "Good News Week" which was about a billion times funnier than the Oz version. Confirmed my suspiscions that Paul McDermott and Mikey Robbins are absolute shite. Had to stop twice because I was laughing so hard.

Couldn't help noticing the chat about the US orienteering association potentially ceasing all squad funding. Based on their international performances I had assumed they hadn't received a cent for years.

running 1:38:00 [3] 17.0 km (5:46 / km)
weight:72.1kg

Long run course. Bit of a plod and not helped by slippery tracks so 10 minutes off my best time. But happy to get through in one piece.

Saw some people out mowing lawns today - Can't recall anyone having enough grass to mow since about 2003.

Seem to have lost 1.4 kg in 2 days. Not bad. At this rate I'll be at racing weight by Friday. (And dead by Christmas).

Stretching 1:00 [3]

Friday Oct 16, 2009 #

running 1:02:00 [3] 11.5 km (5:23 / km)
weight:72.8kg

Run to work. Some of the singletrack on the sides of the yarra was pretty slippery and treacherous

cycling 45:00 [3]

Ride home. Neglected to go to the gym and feel guilty.

Thursday Oct 15, 2009 #

cycling 50:00 [3] 20.0 km (2:30 / km)
weight:73.5kg

Ride to work on MTB. Weight going in the wrong direction.

running 55:00 [3] 11.0 km (5:00 / km)

Again managed to dodge the showers.

Stretching 1:00 [3]

Gym 20:00 [3]

Tuesday Oct 13, 2009 #

running 1:01:00 [3] 11.5 km (5:18 / km)

Run to work the longer way. Freezing cold.
I'm sure this run only used to take 52 minutes.

A couple of people have asked me about my new found training enthusiasm. Let me paint a picture. Suppose you were running first leg of the Oz relay champs, but already on the way to the second control the lead pack had gone. And suppose you were busting your guts and desperately trying to keep lazydave*, who was in second last place, in sight up ahead of you. Wouldn't that be a sign that something needed changing on the training/diet front ? (No offence to lazydave).

*lazydave is, in fact, so lazy that he doesn't even use proper capitalisation and spacing.

Stretching 1:00 [3]

Gym 20:00 [3]

cycling 25:00 [3] 10.0 km (2:30 / km)

Started spattering as I left home but fortunately the rain held up until I was at home eating Vanessa's veggieburgers.

Monday Oct 12, 2009 #

cycling 47:00 [3] 20.0 km (2:21 / km)
weight:72.7kg

Road bike to work.

Measured the route using the garmin - its actually 19.81kms, but I'm rounding to 20.

Stretching 1:00 [3]

Gym 20:00 [3]

In an attempt to stop workplace bullying (the Bosses were always ordering me around) I joined the gym about 9 weeks ago to do some upper body strength work. However, after medical complications (I was diagnosed as chronically lazy) I haven't been for about 7 weeks. Back into it today. I reckon 20 minutes is a fair entry for gym sessions.

running 45:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:00 / km)

Ran home from work after the gym.

Sunday Oct 11, 2009 #

running 45:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:00 / km)

Inspired by watching Hawaii Ironman got out for a run in the morning. Fantastic weather and really enjoyed myself

cycling 1:00:00 [3] 30.0 km (2:00 / km)

Reubster fixed my Roadie so I went and gave it a spin on the boulevarde. Imagined myself riding down the Queen K and leaving Macca and Crowie in my wake. Then got passed by a septugenarian on a mountain bike. [Sigh].

Stretching 1:00 [3]

Saturday Oct 10, 2009 #

running 1:20:00 [3] 14.0 km (5:43 / km)

OK, back on AP. Hopefully some incentive to do a bit of training and reduce the tubs of lard (73.5 kilos of them) that have attached themselves to my waist.

Ran part of my long run course. Too fat and slow to go the whole way.

cycling 45:00 [3] 20.0 km (2:15 / km)

Rode to work on the MTB, changed over and went home on the roadie.
