Sunday Jun 4

Kayaking 1:30:00 [3]
Kayak in the Amuruks (same boat as we will race with in the PQ). Pretty uncomfortable and and hard work to paddle. Went out of the harbour entrance into the ocean found that there was 2-3 m breaking swells out there. Sonia was so scared that she couldn't speak. Turned around and paddled back in surfing down the waves without mishap.
Trek 8:43:49 [3] ** +1330m
ahr:114 max:154
Trek from Whangamata. Up a big hill and then down a river. Was supposed to take us 4-5 hours, but the track was slower than anticipated. Did the last 5 hours in the dark heading down a stream with slippery rocks and large waterfalls. Was dangerous in places and we kept having to backtrack and go bush to find ways around the waterfalls.

Saturday Jun 3

Mountain Biking 3:21:26 [3] ** 26.8 km (7:31 / km) +615m 6:45 / km
ahr:111 max:158
In the hills above Whangamata. Did this ride with Rob G in the summer and it was wicked. This time half the track was slips from all the recent rain, and half of the bike ended up being a carry.

Friday Jun 2

Event: Zoo Sprint

Orienteering race 23:00 [5] ****
Zoo Sprint. Took me the first 4 controls to get into the map. Was fairly intricate and hard to read at full speed. Probably lost about 1.30 im the first 4 controls.

MTB from home around the south end of the island. Felt good, legs seem to have recovered from the weekend finally.
Kayaking 1:26:52 [3]
ahr:130 max:148
Kayak off the beach from Onetangi. Headed south out to visit Kris fishing off his boat. Caught a fish, then paddled back. Felt nice and strong the whole way, concentrating on good technique.

Tuesday May 30

Running 1:10:59 [3] +290m
ahr:130 max:146
Easy run from home. Legs still real sore from Saturdays effort.

ahr:120 max:135
Kayak from Little Oneroa, felt crap.

Monday May 29
