HH with Stina. about 12 deg F with 2-3 inches of fresh fluffy snow. no grooming today. Took yesterday off due to the ankle twist on Wednesday. Snow was a bit slow due to the fresh snow which was OK on the downhills as I was doing my best to minimize the force on my ankle. The snow was fluffy enough so lifting the ski was not a big problem. Skied a small section of the snowmobile trail, it was nice and wide and had now been used since it was last groomed. It was nice. I don't like double track for mountain biking but I sure do like wide smooth trails for skate skiing. Second day using nano-carbon boots.

HH skate skiing. About 23 deg f. The rxcsf groomer was back in opperation and John was grooming when we arrived. It's good they are able to groom again but the result was a slightly soft surface which reduced glide. Fell hard going down raccoon, twisted and pulled my right ankle, that ended the day.

HH with stina. 27 deg f, a frozen sort of snow was falling on arrival and continued for about 45 min. The road and raccoon trail was groomed over the weekend by the snowmobile club which left a firm wide track. Other trails were packed wide by the weekends heavy skier traffic. The result was the best skiing of the year. Felt good.

Kayaking (full moon pddle) 2:31:00 [3] 9.3 mi (16:14 / mi)

#53 full moon paddle with Stina. We had considered Hemlock but an earlier in the day visit revealed ice had formed on the center park of hemlock so we went to Ononda. Nice late January night, light wind and temps in the mid 20s, and no ice on the lake. The moon was behind light clouds most of the night but still visible.

Xc sking (Classic skiing) 2:09:50 [3] 7.0 mi (18:33 / mi)
ahr:114 max:145

Harriet with Stina. The first time in years skiing HH on classic skis (visu). About 15 deg f. And little to no wind. Due to the rxcsf snowmobile not being registered they have been unable to groom the last few day. Heavy skier traffic yesterday has produced a firm base, but no track. The snow was sharp with good kick. The leason learned to day is a too soft classic ski gives good kick but lacks directional stability due to it's short wheelbase. The results were skis that (1) slide sideways on uneven terrain, (2) would effectively break on downhills if cg was too far forward, and (3) we're not stable on down hills. But the day had sun and blue sky so a good day to be out. Thinking about it I think we could have used a colder kick wax. Used blue extra, I think green might have given acceptable kick without the speed reducer affect.
