Strength 20:00 [0]

Physio exercises (mostly lower body)

Circuit 25:00 [2]
ahr:134 max:158

I have a talk tonight so I can't go running. Did another youtube video at lunch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reI0rQxZWlw). Wasn't really my favorite but better than doing nothing I suppose.

Strength 5:00 [0]

Did my most important glute exercise before bed.

Strength 15:00 [0]

Physio exercises (lower body)

Running hills 42:19 [3] 6.48 km (6:32 / km) +105m 6:02 / km
ahr:161 max:183 shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

Hills with my run club!

6 x the Heather Hill

Times are 1:32, 1:31, 1:29, 1:25, 1:30, 1:31

Then 2 x lap of Douglas Park easy and off to watch Star Wars (for a 2nd time)!

I'm feeling too lazy to separate out the hills into a different activity at a different intensity, and the Canadian exchange rate is brutal right now.

Orienteering 1:43:40 [2] 14.75 km (7:02 / km) +332m 6:19 / km
ahr:159 max:178 shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

WJR at Pacific Spirit Park Score-O. I don't actually remember running an orienteering race here before. It was super wet, and I didn't pick a super ideal route. Oh well, at least it made me go for a long run. We weren't allowed off trails as per the permit, so the one control that was slightly off the trial foiled me because I was being pretty mindless. I probably could have gotten one or two more controls, but what getting pretty tired at the end. Glad I got out though!

Strength 30:00 [1]
ahr:112 max:152

I was feeling very lazy, especially after eating sample upon sample at the gluten free expo.

Google told me this was a recommended Youtube exercise video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrB4CjpC-F8

There was definitely some burning involved.

Strength 10:00 [0]

Lower body physio exercises (minus glute bridges--those were a little bit more awkward to do at work). My glutes felt very tired.

Running 39:57 [1] 5.72 km (6:59 / km) +45m 6:43 / km
ahr:152 max:169 shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

Running to the hill, recovery running down, and running back to the store.

Running hills 7:03 [3] 1.04 km (6:47 / km) +76m 4:58 / km
ahr:172 max:181 shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

Twice reps of Queen Elizabeth.

Physio exercises (lower body)

Orienteering 1:03:36 [2] 8.76 km (7:16 / km) +115m 6:49 / km
shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

WET at Ambleside. Dog Bones style. One of my planned routes got a little foiled by the train coming so I had to do a weird out and back kind of leg. Felt like I was just moseying along.

Running warm up/down 13:40 [1] 2.0 km (6:50 / km)
shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

Warm up and cool down for the time trial.

Running 25:55 [3] 5.0 km (5:11 / km) +58m 4:54 / km
ahr:178 max:185 shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

We were supposed to do a "time trial" today around this 2.5km loop. I think this will be used to help inform intervals later on. I haven't tried to run a 5km at any major speed in a very long time, so I really had no idea what to expect or how to pace myself. It was super dark and rainy, and my glasses became useless on the uneven sidewalks (didn't have time to change into contacts). I felt pretty good though. My time is pretty slow, but you have to start somewhere! There were a bunch of people just around my pace, so I think that'll be nice to have.

First lap was 13:06, second lap was 12:49.

Note

At my chiro appointment today, he noticed that my right leg is about 8mm longer than my left leg.

Pilates 50:00 [1]

The Pilates instructor couldn't make it, so we really just did a lot of core and glute activities. It was challenging.

Pilates 45:00 [0]

PIlates class at lunch time is nice because you don't get very sweaty. There was a substitute teacher today (one of the personal trainers from upstairs). He had big muscles and was tattooed and his examples would be like "brace yourself life you're about to get punched" or "put your hand behind your back like you're being handcuffed). It was a pretty good class though.

Running 41:40 [1] 6.0 km (6:57 / km)
shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

Very casual run because they were splitting up into 9.5km and 5km (which ended up being closer to 6). I thought 9.5km might be ambitious for my current fitness state, and don't want to get injured. There were only 5 of us doing 5km though, and they were all a bit slower than me. A lot of hill on the way back up from the Seawall.

Orienteering 35:55 [2] 3.4 km (10:34 / km)

WET at the PNE. I seriously need to get new batteries for my headlamp. I could barely see the map, let alone the ground or my surroundings. A little bit in orienteering lala land, but was nice to get out.

Running 37:27 [3] 6.1 km (6:08 / km)
shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

I joined the Rackets and Runners Run Club as a way to motivate myself to run more. Today was the start of the new session (although most of the people were long time members). I did the 6km option, mostly running with another man. Felt a little tired, but happy to be out. Heart rate band was not working properly because it told me my HR was 39... The position must have been off. I have new running shoes too, which is exciting!

Pilates 55:00 [0]

Pilates class at the Y. A lot of stretching, but was a good way the end the work day. Then some over the top mac and cheese for dinner!

Running 29:02 [2] 5.0 km (5:48 / km)

10th year of doing the Running Room's Resolution Run. Did a casual run with Dad. The roads were a little slippery, but it was a nice temperature. Back to Vancouver today!
