Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [1]

Skiing at Heavenly. A beautiful day to see the Lake Tahoe. It was cool as the ski resort was between state lines so you kept going in between California and Nevada. Did around 14,800 vertical feet. Mostly doing easier stuff today as Oscar and I were feeling a little tired.

Note

Driving day from Salt Lake City to Truckee.

Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [1]

Skiing at Park City. The hill was super empty because Sundance is on, so everyone was watching the movies. A very pretty day and a huge hill to explore. Oscar and I did our first blacks on our own. :)

Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [1]

Full day of skiing at Solitude and day 2 of a lesson with my mom's favourite instructor. This was so helpful. I feel like I ski quite differently now and am way more stable and confident then I was before. Still lots to learn of course. We did a super steep black (my legs were shaking from nerves when we stopped halfway down haha), but good to know that I can do it in control (albeit slowly).

Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [1]

Full day of skiing at Solitude and day 1 of a lesson with Lynn. He used to race on the US national team and is 73 and still teaches almost everyday, does backcountry skiing, and super long bike rides. He is very very technical, which was great as I think I was missing a lot of the fundamentals. Working a lot on where the weight is on the ski and rotary today. A good day! Pretty exhausted though as we arrived at around 11pm and then had to get up at 6:20 to make it to the ski hill on time to get everything sorted out. I rented a demo package today as I've decided my current skis are too long and my boots are way too big. They made a big difference today.

Strength 1:00:00 [2]

PowerFit class at Elite Performance. Maybe didn’t really have time to do this before our plane but it all worked out and I’m sure I’ll feel better for it over the travel day. Liked the instructor and good exercises. I was pretty sore after Thursday, haha so this might compound.

Circuit 30:00 [3]

HIITFit Class at Elite Performance. I had bought a couple of classes during their Black Friday sale and need to use them up before the expiry date. There were just two of us and the instructor so almost a private class!

We did 4 times through each circuit. Each exercise was done for 25 seconds with 8 second break. After each circuit, there was a 2 minute break before moving onto the next one.

Circuit 1:
Skipping
Push ups
Sliders (mountain climbers essentially)
Goblet squats

Circuit 2:
Battle ropes
Lunges
Sled pushes
Versa climber

Circuit 3:
Step up
Assault bike
Box jumps
Ski erg

Pretty tired by the end of it. Watch didn't record HR for some reason.

Run/Walk 42:30 [3] 6.03 km (7:03 / km) +2m 7:02 / km
shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

Last week of my run club as I have dragon boat starting up on Wednesday evenings. Since I'm not able to make it to any Saturday dragon boat practices until the middle of March, I thought I should at least try to go to the Wednesday practices. I'll miss the run club though!

They have started a Sun Run clinic, so I opted to do that workout (10 minutes jogging warm up, 2 minutes running and 2 minutes walking x 6 with a 10 minute cool) instead of the 6km time trial that I was technically supposed to do. Very chill which was what I wanted this evening. Time is a bit approximate since we did some drills after our warm up jog that I tried to take out.

Biking 40:10 [3] 15.07 km (2:40 / km)

Power Cycle at Cyklus. Forgot to bring my Garmin as I was in a big rush from work, so no HR data. Good class. Main working sets were 3 x 5 minutes at the same wattage, but different RPMs.

Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [1]

Fun ski day at Big White! There was some fresh snow, which was enjoyable. The summit was a little windy, but so pretty with these very dispersed trees were super fun to go around and through. I would definitely go back to ski at Big White as they had so many nice runs and the trees are way more open so even a cautious skier like me can have some fun going through them. Mostly skiing with Oscar, and sometimes Thom and Anna. Oscar, Thom and I are all pretty similar levels. Anna is a bit more of a beginner, but is rapidly improving!

Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [1]

First day skiing at Big White. It was highly enjoyable! Topped it off with a nice birthday dinner and a surprise cake for Thom's birthday afterward. Was a bit exhausted because of the drive the night before and not sleeping super well because I was orrying about parking my car in the wrong place and that it might get towed (it was the wrong place, fortunately, did not get towed). The hill was very quiet, so lots of skiing because there were no lines.

Running 31:30 [1] 4.7 km (6:42 / km)
shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

Skipped my run club tonight as we wanted to see our friend Marco before he left for a couple of months. He offered to do a quick run with me instead so I didn't miss working out completely. Nice chill chatty run around the Sea Wall before going home to a dinner Oscar made for us. Time and distance are a bit approximate.

Biking 43:09 [3] 1654.0 km (2 / km)

Power Cycle class at Cyklus. I did not pace myself very well on the watts challenges as my watts definitely decrease. Oops. I'll chalk that up to being the first class back in a while. Nice to be back though!

Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [1]

Skiing at Whistler with my mom, Oscar, and Ian S. Super beautiful day. We found out the gondola actually starts uploading before 8:30, so we got up early and did some runs before there were many people. Nice full day of skiing!

Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [1]

Skiing on Blackcomb with my mom, Oscar and Ian S. Fun up in 7th Heavin! Beautiful views today.

Running 48:00 [3] 7.87 km (6:06 / km) +6m 6:05 / km
shoes: Asics Cumulus 17

Allan McGavin Run Club. Did 15 x 1 minute hard and 1 minute easy with warm up and cool down. Bit of a shock to the system after not running over the holidays at all and then being sick. Lungs felt a bit congested still.

Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [1]

Matt was too tired to ski today so Oscar, my mom and I went back up Blackcomb as the line ups were pretty long for the Whistler gondola. Had some fun in 7th Heaven area as more of the runs were groomed and we were not bumping our way down moguls.

Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [1]

Skiing on Blackcomb with my Mom, Oscar, and our friend Matt. Good day although we completely exhausted Matt, haha. There was some fresh snow which was fun (but challenging)!
