Biking 9:12 [1] 2.3 km (4:00 / km) +17m 3:51 / km
ahr:118 max:152

Biking to spin class since driving isn't much faster. It was super nice out at 6:45am (not too busy, sunny, but not too warm), although not nice enough to convince me to do it regularly.

Biking 46:25 [3]
ahr:159 max:177

Second class of my five class Groupon pass. Went to an early (for me) morning class so Oscar could come too. This was at a different location (Ron Zalko in Kits). I liked the music more this time, but I find the rest intervals are too short for me to recover properly. Such a sweaty workout.

Biking 8:47 [1] 2.34 km (3:45 / km) +30m 3:32 / km
ahr:129 max:154

Biking home after spin (at a rather relaxed pace). Then had yummy poppy seed lemon pancakes with a friend who was visiting from out of town. :) I bought a pannier off of Craigslist last night, so that's exciting!

Note

'Event director' for the WET at Renfrew last night. We were using leftover maps from Sprint Camp. I didn't field check it since it wasn't that old (and the point was to use the pre-printed maps) and there were changes and caution tape all over the place. Oops. I think people still had fun though and Mike's course is a good one. I had help setting out and picking up the controls, which was great. I think it's a good idea to use up pre-printed maps from high quality events at WETs to help minimize the organizational effort and to put the printed paper to good use. The courses tend to be a bit shorter than a regular WET, but I think it's fine every once in a while.

Strength 26:30 [1]
ahr:124 max:150

Last strength workout of this program! (nevermind that I started this '12 week' program in the middle of February) I'm happy that I actually finished it. I think I'll switch to dumbbell domination for the next bit as I'd like a change. Plus dumbbell domination seems easy to do at home with the weights that I have. Went to the gym in the morning with Oscar. :)

3*20 smith machine hip thrust with 3 second pause at the top (50# plus 25 # bar)
3*12 dumbbell chest supported row (40# total )
3*15 Smith machine parallel squat (60# plus 25# bar)
3*12 incline dumbbell press (40#, 20 per hand)
3*20 45 degree back extension (15# dumbbell)
1* 30 clam shells with green band
1*20 hanging leg raises
1*15 twists with cable (weight 3)

Orienteering 2:11:22 [2] 7.22 km (18:12 / km) +406m 14:12 / km
ahr:136 max:184

Oh my goodness. Haven't been that lost for a long time. Wasn't even sure if I was still on the map or even how to relocate. I never really got into the map and wasn't visualizing what any of the control circles were like. Slightly surprised to see Erica and Tori out there are various points, haha. My right ankle (which isn't normally my bad one) started to get pretty sharp pains if I landed on it slightly weird. Running drastically increased the number of painful landings so I just decided to walk the rest (especially after I botched a couple of controls in a row). It was fine afterwards when just walking regularly so not really sure what's going on. My orienteering didn't really improve even once I was walking though... Sigh. Would like to come back out here for more practice (preferably on a 1:10,000)!

Had a lot of fun orienteering this weekend and always nice to see people!

Orienteering 15:53 [3] 2.34 km (6:47 / km) +12m 6:37 / km
ahr:165 max:186 shoes: Brooks Cascadia 12

WCOC Sprint at Mundy Park. Joanne did a nice job with the courses. I think it was pretty clean except for a couple of hesitations. I was 3rd place, which meant I got a delicious chocolate prize (my favourite type of award!).

Orienteering 51:03 [3] 3.93 km (12:59 / km) +182m 10:33 / km
ahr:160 max:183

WCOC Middle/Pig war. Cool area! Super nice to have a map like this fairly close to home. Unfortunately my orienteering wasn't really up to snuff (having a hard time focusing and coming up with a plan), but I enjoyed myself out there.

Biking 53:01 [3]
ahr:151 max:177

Got a Groupon for 5 spin classes at Wholey Fit a while back. Class was pretty. Not quite as in sync with the music as some other classes and the instructor wasn't spinning as well since I think she has a competition coming up and is cutting a lot. Very unpretentious though and people seemed friendly. A good work out. The rest periods were super short.
