---New Blog Post---

I just put up a blog post about the first part of our training camp in Jura. I covers the first two days of the camp. The next one will cover the final two days where I raced in the swiss national events for the middle and long distance.

If you'd like to have the blog posts sent directly to you when they come out feel free to subscribe by entering your email on the "subscribe" tab on the right hand page of my wordpress site.

I hope you enjoy :)

PS. I have also fixed and updated the maps/pictures that didn't previously upload onto my first blog post:

5 PM

Orienteering 39:22 [4] 4.8 km (8:12 / km) +250m 6:30 / km

Did a good job working on checkpoints but relaxed too much on the last few controls.

On the next training I will continue to work on checkpoints but also work on keeping my intensity high towards the end(not running like crazy, but planning and following through like crazy)

I did this with Julia from the US team, and then we went out for lunch :P

Second portion of the sprint map
5 PM

Run 42:17 [3] 7.5 km (5:38 / km) +205m 4:58 / km

Relaxed run with Sofie's orienteering team, not too many people showed up. They did intervals and I just watched(I had done a sprint earlier)

1 PM

Run warm up/down 35:00 [2] 5.0 km (7:00 / km)

2 PM

Orienteering 1:09:30 [4] 9.3 km (7:28 / km) +297m 6:27 / km

Event: Long Distance
Place: 11th
min/km: about 8:30

Happier with this race, towards the end though I lost focus and that lead to poor panning and slower controls. I need to continue to work on keeping a high level of focus throughout the race.

New blog post about our first two days in the Jura training camp, check it out from the link on the right side on my page :)
11 AM

Run warm up/down 40:00 [2] 5.0 km (8:00 / km)

12 PM

Orienteering 45:50 [3] 4.1 km (11:11 / km)

Event: Middle Distance
Place: 25
min/km: 10+

The race started fairly well but I my plan on "looking at my map super often" did't do any good for me because I had troubles making any sort of a plan and from there on out messed up almost every control because of not having a sense on direction(plan)

I talked to Jeff and we decided that I needed to focus on checkpoints and planning out my legs before leaving controls

Note

New blog post, it goes over my first days in Switzerland, with maps that you can see! I'm currently in Jura at and will be doing a middle distance race tomorrow
12 PM

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3] 6.3 km (11:07 / km) +200m 9:35 / km

Forgot my GPS at the camp

We did intervals in the forest about every 3-5 controls. Maps will be posted in Jura Training Camp Part 2

Fairly dense forest with most of the trails being logging trails so they were obvious but hard to run on. We had a little bit of a fright when Anton was stung by a bee and he started having troubles breathing... but we made it home!
