Orienteering 30:00 [3] 0.01 km (50:00:00 / km)

Lockdown Orienteering, Day 3.

Much better fun overall today, definitely the best day so far.
Spot The Difference O - great fun except the last one was fiendish so spent way too long before giving up and guessing anyway
Streetview O - great fun once I got the hang of the tech of keeping Streetview, O map and answer sheet open at the same time
Catching Features Long on Kilnsey: CF is actually starting to make some sense now...!

The whole thing is a bit of a game of attrition though as only 200 of 500 competitors actually completed all 7 first stages. I'm 44th for the moment which is better than expected and possibly 1st CSU :-)

Orienteering 45:00 [3] 0.01 km (75:00:00 / km)

Lockdown Championships, Day 2

Control description game = Average fun, but stressful
Photo memory game = Great fun
Quiz = Reasonable fun
Catching Features = Type 2 fun, at best.

Not sure I *really* enjoyed this today. Felt more like a test of computer endurance so I'll be glad to be back doing real orienteering...

Orienteering race 30:00 [5] 0.01 km (50:00:00 / km)

Lockdown Championships, Day 1.

Great fun this, and what an amazing thing to pull off so quickly. Wasn’t very good at any of them, but then many others said the same

Game 1 - Route Choice Game - only got 68% correct and not too quick for a score of 4.41. Wonder whether just picking a random one super fast would have scored more. Decent fun though

Game 2 - Running Wild - bit too easy to be really fun so think I got most right, although slowly. Except the one where Abi tapped on the screen trying to suggest a route, having forgotten that I have a touchscreen...

Game 3 - Catching Features - was almost not going to do this but turned out excellent fun especially as the runner wears CSUUUniform! Thought I did ok but when I finished (51.03) I was in the bottom 20%. I did get stuck for 3 minutes though when my Kenny got ‘sucked into’ a low wall and I couldn’t get it out despite pressing all the buttons - no idea what happened there.

Overall if I manage top half I’ll be pleased.

Running 1:17:31 [3] 16.14 km (4:48 / km) +172m 4:34 / km

Sheesh. It was warm out there so it was hard work on the last 5k to make sure I didn’t end up ‘över maxtid’.

Orienteering 51:39 [3] 9.68 km (5:20 / km) +142m 4:58 / km
ahr:152 max:182

Some more orienteering around Richmond Park, using a different bit of the OK Nuts. Still knackered, but a cool route that really should become my terrain loop.

Am I the only one who says “bleep” when finding control sites on training runs?

Orienteering 1:01:23 [3] 11.52 km (5:20 / km) +179m 4:57 / km
ahr:129 max:163

Re running part of an old OK Nuts course in Richmond Park.

Decent fun and I even lost a few seconds here and there despite the fact that I should know it inside out - and good to have an aim as I felt pretty low energy.

The map was surprisingly poor though for being only 3 years old.
