Triathlon race (Olympic distance tri) 2:24:45 [5] 51.5 km (21.3 kph)
slept:8.0

Thank god we had decent weather. No rain and warming up . Had a great swim. 21.25, 3rd out of the water, but a minute behind the 2 leaders, a Belgium and another Australian. Transition not bad, 4th fastest out of water onto bike. 3rd fastest time on bike 1:09.35, 5 mins behind leader and 1.30 min behind Aussie. Still sitting in 3rd after bike. T2 wasn't bad, but couldn't find rack, event crew had to shout out for me to find. Run let me down. First 5km ok, but felt wrecked. Was aiming for a 40minute run but well over. First lap probably around 21minute mark and then died. Had one of the slowest runs. Admittedly didn't do enough run training due to 3weeks of injury. Really impacted the end result. Happy enough to finish 5th though. Have learnt a lot from this experience. Hope to make the Junior elite team next year, but will nominate for both Age Sprint and Olympic next year as it's on te Gold Coast.

Went for an 8km run this morning. Trying to run in 55km winds, not much fun. Running into it I felt it was like pushing me 2 steps back and when it was behind me I felt I wasn't fast enough as it was going a lot quicker than me. Tried to put bike together yesterday, but had trouble with putting air in the tyres, so took them to the team bike mechanic to pump up. He had to replace the valves. Lucky I didn't ride this morning as it was that windy, that a couple of the Aussie girls my age got blown over by the wind. I will try and go for a ride tomorrow.
Did a swim this afternoon in the designated pool. Didn't take wetsuit so swam in less than ideal conditions, 17 degree water, but at least the sun was finally out.

swimming 40:00 [3] 2.0 km (20:00 / km)
slept:7.0

First bit of training since arriving in Rotterdam. Tried to go to pool this morning but they are only open certain times for public pool swimming, which unfortunately was 9pm. Luckily I only had to do a short set so by the time I finished and caught bus home I could still be in bed by 10.30. Walked 18km around Amsterdam today as we went sight seeing, so my feet and shins are a bit sore. Trying to adjust to the time distance. Woke up this morning around 2pm.
