Husadubbeln classic distance

My orienteering is getting better, but I made a series of big mistakes and lost about 10 or 12 minutes over three controls in a row. Should have run around in about 65 minutes with a decent run. Beautiful day to be outside. It feels like Spring is finally on the way.

Pretty weird course setting at the event today. This was an eliteseries event. So it was quite big, with the promise of high quality courses on good, challenging terrain. The terrain was great for the elite classes, but the other classes ran around in a different area. It was basically a series of marshy logging coups - not really what everyone one was hoping for.

O-intervals 5 x 1.5km short loops with slightly staggered mass start to simulate a relay
Great training. Good to practise technique at speed with some pressure. I realised that I hesitate way too much in the control circle.

Just found out that I'm running last at Tiomila - 18km. Might go for a long run on the weekend.

Pretty technically intense middle distance event. Didn't really get up much speed during the course. I felt like I orienteered better than yesterday, but still managed to lose quite a bit of time with various mistakes. Feels like I'm getting better at simplifying the complicated terrain, and not needing to stop and look at the map so much. Just need to get the confidence and control to be able to run a bit faster.

Haningeträffen långdistans

Pretty tough terrain with a good map but hard to read at 1:15000. On the way to the first control, I chose a route through a flat white area that turned out to be wetter than any of the marshes on the map - chest deep in water that smelled like the nearby horse shit was a great way to start the course.
Found hard to get into the orienteering and lacked confidence when I needed to just run hard and simplify things. Lots of mistakes, but at least I didn't get too tired at the end.
Hoping for some revenge tomorrow in the middle distance.

Middle distance orenteering in nackareservatet.
Nice day for it! I orienteered ok. I thought that the course was relatively technical. No big mistakes, but a few minutes lost. Seems like I'm slowly picking up the speed with which I can keep the navigation under control. GOOD!
Still need to get fitter. Getting passed by 50 year old finnish men isn't too good.

Centrum training at Ursvik - Brunbild. Still pretty easy with only the contours on the map. It was fun to stretch out the legs a bit.
Got a flat tire so I had to walk about ten km home with my bike.

First daytime oreinteering event for the year. A bit chilly and super muddy in the forest. My technique was pretty scrappy and lost a bit of time due to not concentrating, but I was pretty happy to be able to run at all after hitting my knee at Grymnatta.

Need to get more practise at running in the forest.
