Still feeling like crap and so didn't run again today.

Running 49:40 [2]
(sick)

Was planning a long run on black mountain but after about 10 minutes I could tell I really wasn't over whatever bug I had last week. Ran/walked for 1/2hour before deciding that i really was too sick to run and finished jogging straight down the road.

Team Sports (Soccer final vs Johns) 50:00 [4]
(sick) shoes: Nike Braziliano

Woke up still feeling a bit crook but played anyway. Won 3-0 which was pretty awesome but I was so spent after the game i pretty much went straight to bed ( at 4 in the afternoon) instead of getting trashed with the rest of the team.

Event: City2Surf

Running race (City2Surf) 49:42 [5] 14.0 km (3:33 / km)
shoes: Asics GEL-1120

Pleased with the time and just have to hang tight for the result which is printed on tuesday.

Started towards the back of the preffered runner group but this would have only lost me 20 seconds or so at the start. Took the first few downhill sections (the first 3km or so) as easily as I could amongst the press of runner around me and after that a lot of people started to drop off.

By the time I got to heartbreak hill I was feeling great and so shortened the stride and upped the tempo up to the top. About 1km from the top though my legs started feeling unbelieveabley tired and unresponsive and I lost a lot of ground to a the runners immediattely ahead of me and some of those I had just passed re-passed me and ran away.

Felt flat as a tac untill about the 9km mark where I told myself to grin, bear it, and fight through the last few ks. In the last 4km (mostly descents)I could tell I was feeling better than those around me and caught 15 or so runners including 6 or 7 in the final km, running these at 3:10km.

Overall I was pleased with the result but felt that I could have been 30-50 seconds faster if I hadn't lost time during the middle of the race. Pretty pleased though with 49:42

rhr:61 slept:10.0 weight:75kg (rest day)

Rest day before city2surf tommorow morning. I'm feeling good, not too sore from 2 soccer games yesterday. I'm well hydrated, well fed and ready to go. My training leading into the race has been much better this year as well (although shotened to about a month due to injury) and I'm hoping to cut my time down from 52:56 to sub 50 with a good race plan and dropping the extra minute or two where I had to wait at the start (amongst a throng of people) last year.

Took another day off today, the legs just feeling a bit sore.

Tuesday Aug 7, 2007 #

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Asics GEL-1120

Running intervals (long road intervals) 18:00 [4] 4.5 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Asics GEL-1120

3 x 4 minute efforts with 2 minute floats at 3km race pace. Was meaning to do quite a few more than that but the legs were outrageously sore and so stopped after 3 to do some stretching but was still too sore to continue. That said I was making really good distance during the efforts and was running 30-50m further than last week for the same time of effort. Will get on the bike the next few days to save the legs from the impact.

Running (Kings Bridge Loop) 38:50 [5] 12.0 km (3:14 / km)
shoes: Asics GEL-1120

I've been resting for this form testing run before city2surf next week and was pleased with how I felt. Not sure if this is a PB but its pretty pleasing on the back of only 3 weeks training and in the blustery wind that was blowing today. Feeling good about that top 100 finish next week

warm up/down warm up/down (Footy warm up) 30:00 [2]

Jogging, run throughs, kicking practice...pretty cruisy stuff
