Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Games (soccer) 50:00 [2]

We lost again, 8-4, but I think I actually had a positive goal differential as well as 2 assists. Need to get more actual running in this coming week.

Note

Had about a 45 minute conversation with Marg and Brian Ellis, the new president of OABC, this afternoon.

We had a great conversation on how to grow the sport into new communities in BC, while still helping existing clubs (namely Kamloops) to survive and hopefully grow.

We started off by talking about how we managed to be successful in Salmon Arm - mostly the ski team, the wild soles trail running, and a tad of promotion.

It then went into plans for this coming summer, and how we could grow the sport around BC. It sounds like I might get a summer job traveling to various BC communities (likely Revelstoke, Vernon, Kelowna) with a couple of existing orienteers to work. I'd be making maps, setting up events, with the goal of getting a foundation for future clubs in each city. The idea is to hopefully get the former/inactive orienteers to come out and help organize events for excited new beginners.

This would likely take place through May/June, working with schools as well. Possibly some sort of follow up thing in August if I do not end up picking pinecones this year. Sometime in here I believe I am also making 2-3 decent sized forest orienteering maps around Salmon Arm/Sorrento.

Based on my Attackpoint profile, I have been consistently getting a few hits, so somebody is reading my training log now (notice that my training comments are longer than they used to be?) so any thoughts or ideas welcome!
