Streching/Rolling 8:00 [0]

Back has started to act up again with increased hunched back studying. Need some sort of reminder mechanism to stay upright and straight.

Biking 2:34:10 [1] 37.37 km (4:08 / km) +705m 3:46 / km

Ride out through Dilworth mountain to downtown. Was going to fieldcheck the City Park map of part of the waterfront area that I have been working on, but it decided to rain right when I got there. So I took shelter in the tunnel under the highway for 10 minutes instead. Cleared up, and went and found a "Piano in a Park" and played for a while. Then up Knox Mountain, over Upper Valley Road to Glenmore. Shopped at the Save-On there, then home.

Running 8:23 [3] 1.2 km (6:59 / km) +22m 6:24 / km

Started running down the hill to the university, realized I forgot my compass and control description holder, so back up (less than halfway) and then down again.

Orienteering 34:11 [2] 5.68 km (6:01 / km) +98m 5:32 / km

Orienteering with Rachel on the UBC-O map for the first time. Definitely some problems with the map, but considering it has never been fieldchecked I am quite happy with it. Lots of good terrain, route choices (typically left or right, but some with more options). Didn't really set super technical controls, since it is in the detailed areas that remotely made maps fall apart a bit. Will make this map properly sometime, but for now it was a lot of fun and perfectly usable.

Edit: Map uploaded. We skipped 18 and 22 because of an extra fence that wasn't mapped(18), and a bunch of tall scratchy grass for no real benefit (22). There was also an extra fence due to construction south of 2, making the route south of the building impassable.

Little mistake on 4, running outside the OOB olive green rather than on the pathway next to the building.

Not sure on the fastest way to 15, but I think it might be the north option and I went south.

Mistake on 31, should have gone to the stairs, not through the canopy.

Once again, I made the course so didn't get all of the routechoice benefit while running. I sort of knew where I was going to go for a bunch of legs before hand, just because I made the course. There is a lot less benefit from making the map if you just make it remotely.

Running 5:01 [1] 0.76 km (6:37 / km) +55m 4:52 / km

Running back up the hill after orienteering.

Biking (Road) 31:15 [1] 10.31 km (3:02 / km) +71m 2:56 / km

Biking to church which I thought started at 5, so was going to be right on time until I got detoured by construction. Really pushed it the rest of the way, and made it on time: parking lot empty. Read the sign, church starts at 5:30. So toodled around the Rutland Rec. center area checking it for a possible O-Map.

Biking (Road) 23:17 [1] 5.46 km (4:16 / km) +143m 3:46 / km

Bike back from church.

Running 31:06 [1] 4.45 km (6:59 / km) +162m 5:55 / km

Easy evening run around some parts of Academy Hill I haven't fully explored yet. There is more trail than I thought there was, and one area that actually looks like it is a legal park, not just trails on private property. Going to have to look a bunch of it up, but would be good to make a barebones training map of this area just cause it's so close. Contours are easy, trails are easy, and only a few boulders and little vegetation to do... wouldn't take long (maybe a weekend project for this weekend if I don't want to do my Geography Assignment?).

It was almost completely dark by the time I ended at 7:30. Had to cut thte run short, don't know where all the barbed wire fences are yet. Going to have to go running earlier in the day, which is hard when I get off at 4:00 or 5:00 on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Guess I need to go buy a proper headlight for the middle of the week.

Strength 15:35 [1] 0.18 km (1:27:33 / km) +12m 1:05:29 / km

A bit of bodyweight strength on the deck after running.
