Running 25:00 [2]

Shakeout run with most of the boys JWOC team.

Our accommodations are the only two buildings in one piece in the midst of a crumbling soviet era military barracks. Most buildings haven't been taken care of, are missing windows, floors falling out, etc. Thankfully, our building was renovated a few years ago, so it is in good shape, although sound travels through it very easily.

Mapping 5:39:24 intensity: (4:00:00 @0) + (1:39:24 @1) 9.95 km (34:06 / km) +267m 30:04 / km

More mapping at Mount MacPherson. More white today, but got into the patch logging. Not sure if I'm going to map the next (highest) hillside and bench. I'll set some preliminary courses while in Europe and see what distances are like. If it isn't needed for BCOC, I won't be doing it.

Easy run after dinner with Dad and Lillian.

More MacPherson mapping - pretty green sidehill today - will be used for routechoice legs, but still has to be mapped well.

Orienteering 41:03 [3] 4.2 km (9:46 / km)

Park Hill Orienteering. Set up some back to basics goals at the beginning since my last few runs have been suboptimal - haven't been setting session goals well. Anyways, today was about knowing entry into control direction, control code + description memorized, and exit direction.

Made a few small bobbles, partly me, sometimes the older/less detailed map, but overall happy with the run. Never really pushed the pace to the limit though, was never doing the borderline of the limits orienteering.

Good confidence booster before JWOC.

Armchair-O 3:00:00 [0]

All about Hungary.

Started off with a bit of embargoed sprint area mapping from Satellite and streetview (pretty good coverage). Others on the team have already mapped most of it, so i was just fixing mapping errors and tidying up some drafting mostly.

Then finally got around to watching Michael's GoPro relay terrain analysis, which was really good to get an initial feel for the terrain before I get there.

Than back to a couple more hours of sprint mapping.

Off to Revelstoke tomorrow for another 2 day trip, unless it is raining again.
