Note

There is a certain part of me that just wants to write in the NorAM development thread: you have some great ideas, but make it happen yourself and volunteer to put it on. Speaking from experience if you want an event to happen - organize it yourself or it probably will not happen.

There isn't an organizer lined up for NAOC or COC 2022 yet - I'd put a good bet that if someone offered to host it with some conditions (such as adding in both a Sprint Relay and Forest Relay) they would probably take it at this point.

Easy run after church in Myra Bellevue. Definitely catching a bit of a cold, so tried to keep it easy. Walked a few uphills.

Haven't stretched in a couple of days, and my right foot had some issues around 25 minutes into the run, but resolved after a quick stretch and walking section. Need to make sure that I do good recovery considering how I've been upping the distance.

Run up at the second closest Kelowna Nordic trailhead (where the groomer shed is). There is a gate across the parking lot in summer, but no lock on it - so...

Anyways - the run was mostly on the snowshoe "trails" which in summer have a little bit of tread in some places bu mostly are just ribbons on the odd tree here and there. A little bit difficult to follow in places. Other chunks on the Cross Country ski trail network varying from well-maintained forest service road to rough, uncut, summer meadow.

Gorgeous pine forest about 25-30 years old (I'm not forester, so that's a guess) where you can just start to run underneath the canopy with very little hindrance but the visibility is still pretty low. Absolutely gorgeous.

Orienteering potential is very, very good with about 75% white forest, 20% thicker stuff and 5% open ground or marsh. A scattering of rock and water features, low density trail/road network, and fairly low climb (for around here...). No insanely detailed contour stuff that I saw, but lots of moderate and large contour features.

On a side note - I'm starting to catch a cold with a bit of a sore throat today.

A couple of pictures:

Didn't mean to end up at the rail trail in Myra Bellevue, but a series of wrong turns, construction, and interesting roads meant I ended up here. The last time I was here I was maybe 5 years old, and managed to bike around 1km down the trail to the first tunnel, which was of course too scary to enter.

Today I got out through two tunnels, and around 10 tressels. Wishing i had my water bottle holder down in kelowna, forogt it in Salmon Arm. It would have also let me take pictures since I could have carried my phone in its pocket. Oh well

Nice to get out for a run, but feeling slow and out of shape.

Session Data visible to everyone.

Running 45:00 [1] 7.0 km (6:26 / km)

GPS had some issues connecting and staying connected to satellites, which is odd, so just manually uploading a time and approximate distance.

Was too hungry to go running after dinner, but wanted to make use of the light, so went for a full belly run from the front door.

My feet did not enjoy the pavement running vary much, so I tried to do as much trail as possible (about 60%). Once I get the car back on Thursday or Friday I think I'll start driving to some more extensive trail network where I can run exclusively trail just to minimize risk.

Running 46:10 intensity: (1 @0) + (18:33 @1) + (20:54 @2) + (6:42 @3) 6.6 km (7:00 / km) +176m 6:10 / km
