BUCS Relay - Hugset Wood
Unlike most people I wasn't feeling any aftereffects of the night before. Legs were still suffering from yesterday so was fairly slow as a result, not helped by the absolutely shite terrain and mud in a few places, which is seemingly encroaching over and ruining what is otherwise a very nice area. Course was fun and technical, and this was a challenge right from the off, although the mud knocked one of my shoes off as soon as I started. Used another control to head into #1, went too far into the shite undergrowth for #2, and picked up a bit of a rhythm. #6 was a weird long leg, with the horrible undergrowth limiting route choice to a case of desperately finding a way through. Went too far south for #14 and ended up at the wrong control, before quickly relocating, only to head into the rough open way too early on #16. Got slightly distracted by other runners on the final loop, taking a much longer route to #20 than necessary and blowing a bit of time on #21 not realising I was next to the control. Would have gone much faster if I was able to run, and especially if there weren't any brambles and mud, which really slowed me down.
