PreAct, 6x lunges
Stretch, roll, ice after race

Raced the Fort Ord 25k with about 606m of elevation.
I knew the race course pretty well and knew that the first half was relatively downhill and the second half was crazy uphill. Went out conservative and mentally focused on staying comfortable and running my own race. This proved to be a smart strategy. I spent the second half of the race just rolling past people, especially on the massive uphills. Kept things cruising and by the time I finished, I had paced every single person within sight. Pushed hard in the last 2 km (which was really difficult, single track, uphill climb). Really happy with my effort and overall results. Placed 6th woman overall and 4th in my age group.

Shins were fine - but right hip flexor was giving me trouble on those uphills. Need to do some more butt and hip strength I think.

Shins were really sore and I was completely fatigued from a tough week of work. Went to bed super early to try to recover before the race.

Easy run with the dogs this morning. Left shin was sore to start but eased up while running. Was sore even after icing. Overall legs were heavy and fatigued but got the run in.

Notes: Excellent effort on this workout - very happy! Felt sluggish and cranky on the warm up, but things quickly turned around for me. Today was a rough day at school, so putting 100% of my focus into my workout and being in the moment really helped me. I finished feeling strong and fit. Focused on being fast and smooth on the hard. Left shin was sore after. Icing off and on and seeing Dr. Nagai tomorrow after work.

Notes: Decent circuit today. Just trying to make the best of having to do this at the gym without having an indoor track. Really worked hard on ellip and bike. Quads were definitely feeling it.

Hatha yoga class to end the night. Really great stretch and strength - could have used something a bit more difficult so I may opt to do my own yoga at home next week. Lots of hips openers which was great.

Notes: Solid tempo today. Took warm up a little fast so the last tempo was tough. Pumped the arms and pushed through to the end. Super tired after so I'm happy with the effort. Little bit of tightness in IT band so I'll talk with Dr. Nagai about it on Thursday and get him to loosen things up.

Notes: Triceps and hamstrings were definitely feeling sore after yesterday's yoga class. Overall feeling fatigued - this was hard to get through mentally as well. But I made the best of it by challenging myself to beat my times rather than count how much longer until I was finished. It worked and I'm happy with my effort.
