PPTC Cherry Tree 10-Miler Race

Notes: New PB with this race!
The race was 3 loops of the park so my plan was to treat it as a progression run. The first loop was strong, smooth and controlled. The second loop I pushed it up the hill and cruised on the way back down. Kept things flowy and smooth. The third loop was rough. Going up the hill for the third time felt like heavy legs with every step. The way down I mentally told myself was flowy but it definitely was gritty. Right hip flexor got angry with 2 miles to go and it took everything I had to keep on moving through the finish line. Had nothing left to give and hip flexor was SORE and SLOW moving. Very happy with my effort. Just wish I had more in the tank - some more speed work at the end of workouts will help build that extra kick that I'm lacking at the end of races.

Taking the next week off of running to enjoy snowboarding and mid-winter break. Goal is to come back and train hard to the Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon. All signed up for weekly track and yoga sessions! For now, time to rest this hip.
