Very slow and easy warm up (searching for bathrooms) and cool down (running to cheer for teammates).
Due to the extreme delays in trains, didn't have time for strides or leg swings this morning. Legs felt alright despite not fully warming up.

NYRR Team Champs 5-Mile Race

Notes: Pretty happy with this one overall. Raced it smarter than Belmar. Went into it knowing it was hot, humid and hilly (hilly especially compared to Belmar). Just kept picking off mile by mile and had a nice little kick at the end. When things felt tough I thought about bringing heels to butt and pumping the arms. Had more in the tank, but I'm happy with where I finished.

That's it for "summer" training. Let the marathon training begin!

Easy morning shake out with the pups. Felt more humid today so it was hot. No aches or pains until the last minute when the bandaid slipped off my blisters. Giving my feet some air and relaxation the rest of the day. Rolled out legs after and will ice a little in preparation for tomorrow race.

Easy morning shake out with the pups. They really needed to get their energy out so this was good. No issues besides the blister on the bottom of my foot, but it was a lot better today.

Bike ride to and from Jackrabbit to pick up our PPTC hats for Team Champs on Saturday. Quads are definitely fatigued today and felt it on the bike. Tacked on a little extra to get to 30 minutes on the bike. Gorgeous afternoon!

Finally! A Thursday evening where it's not raining! Really enjoyed yoga in the park this evening. Perfect class, perfect evening. Lots of hip openers, hamstrings, and shoulders - all the things I need.

Notes: Woke up early to eat and drink some water before this workout. Stomach seems to be back to normal. Met up with Sara for the warm up, then did the hill repeats on my own. Effort was supposed to be about a 10k race pace. Pushed hard to get faster with each hill. Focused on getting heels to butt and pumping the arms when I felt tired. I pretended I was racing everyone around me and just kept rolling by people. Good workout and solid effort today. Put in all the strength work after.

Right shin was very sore for first 5 minutes, but eased up into the workout. Icing throughout the day and monitoring.

Notes: A nice easy loop with Lisa catching up. Good to add in a little extra mileage, however I now have a large blister on the bottom of my left, big toe that is very painful. Ugh. Need to figure out how to heal this quickly.

Notes: Struggled with an upset stomach all day. Feeling quite under the weather - perhaps a reaction to the allergy shots I got on Monday. Didn't do any extra strength work, or running. Had just enough energy to get this done. Hoping to go to bed early and have a fresh start tomorrow.

Good session today. Looks like I have a strain in my rib muscles (can't remember the technical term) so he worked on that for me and taped it up. Worked the calves, hips (ouch) and shin. So far pain seems to have subsided. We'll see how things go tomorrow.

Notes: Waited and waited to see if it would cool down outside, but temperatures stayed dangerously high so opted to do this on the treadmill. It was a solid effort and good mental practice running when things *feel* tough. Right shin was sore for most of the run so need to monitor it this week.
