I was a little tired going in to today - pretty sure I'm still hurting from that hill ride & tempo on Tues - but felt good, solid energy. Game plan was to stay relaxed for the first half (6km climb) & start building into the last 2k of climbing, then hammer the last 4k as much as possible. Hard parts easy, easy parts hard. I feel like I executed pretty well. Let people rush by in the first km, then reeled them in the rest of the race. I was alone from about km 3-5, which was tough, but always catching people. Caught another girl around 5k, worked with her to reel in some guys & another woman, & dropped the people I was with at about 2km to go. Didn't know if I could hang on for the last 2k, but wanted to try. Ended up getting tangled up in some 5km runners in the last k - slow!
Overall, great race effort, stupid hot conditions but great run today. Super happy with how deep I was able to dig.
