Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

Running intervals 16:00 [5] 4.0 km (4:00 / km)

65-120s (45s recovery) in Punta Arenas - my most southerly run ever.

Quite pleased I toughed it out on a very hot day after we had been out in the sun visiting the penguins all afternoon.

I found a large green space on the town map where I planned to run but it turned out to be a military area of some sort so I ended up running up and down the streets.

As it was hot I took my shirt off after a few minutes. While running one repeat I was wolf whistled from one car and then during my warm down next to a main road, two girls slowed their car and beeped at me before speeding off. I was jogging on the footpath so I don't think I was obstructing their journey.

Punta Arenas is a strange place.

Running 32:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:20 / km)

A really warm day today - max of 30 or so coming up. Went for a run on a quiet dirt road west of Castro. The flies (like Aussie March flies) were terrible. I had a swim in the river afterwards but couldn't get changed quick enough with a cloud of the blighters all over me.

I had planned to run for longer but wasn't super motivated and I figured longer runs could wait for next week when we are in Torres del Paine.

Turned the legs over on a short run up and down the road near our accommodation (North of Castro on Chiloe).

Running 1:01:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:12 / km) +600m 7:38 / km

Run up Chaiten Volcano and back. The track was supposed to be 2.2k and 600m climb but I measured it as 2.6km. Think the climb was accurate though. Really tough climbing- even harder than 2 days ago though the track was maintained. The last part of the climb to the crater rim was very steep and slippery. I got pretty wet - a fair bit of rain coming down at the top. Was very careful on the way down.
