Note

Boat home. And so ends a very special trip. The idea came from the Abels volumes we purchased recently. I had been to Queenstown previously and seen the various mountain ranges to the south, north and west of the town. These are all part of the West Coast Range that is parallel and adjacent to the Cradle Mountain Overland Track. The range was left out of the park because of the mining industry in the area. The positive side of this was that very few people go here. One can do day trips to experience wild mountain scenery the equal of any on the Western Arthur Range, then shower afterwards, saunter down to the pub for a meal (admittedly rather rustic) and a drink, then wander back to the motel to sleep between sheets. Will be going back. Mts Jukes, Dundas, Geike and Sedgwick call.
