Today was scheduled as a test run. Its the one day a week when I am trying to run faster (ie not quite as slow as current normal). But despite the schedule, the body was convinced it was 'old-man' day. I went on a reasonable distance warm-up run. At the end this hadn't convinced the body to change its view. Not sure if the benefit of warming the muscles was outweighed by the disbenefit of early tiring. But I did the test anyway, felt awful throughout and was glad when the 23 minutes was up. On checking, I discovered I was 50 seconds faster than last week. Is it improving fitness, or the impact of a warm-up. Still, its sobering to think that I'm still 4 minutes slower than peak fitness. That is a lot to find. I may never find it. Ageing might be slipping the potential back with each passing day...

Ruin run. Gradually increasing the distance. Knee still a little stiff, certainly still tender to kneel upon. But main constraint ti slack of fitness. Fitness at Easter looks a challenge.
It was pleasantly cool for a change. I think about 17 degrees at 7.00am. Top today of 'only' 33. That is the temperature low spot in the cycle. It will be a stinker for the weekend. Perhaps we may set a record for the number consecutive days over 30. One interesting effect of the lower temperature was some form of temperature inversion which meant I could clearly hear the Hazeldene phone ringing in the forest. That is 4 kilometres away.

Knee a little tender, so paranoia rules.

Clara would call this a 'token effort'. Given the wether lately, any effort is admirable.
