Running long 1:45:00 [2] ** 15.35 km (6:50 / km) +130m 6:34 / km
ahr:110 max:143 weight:79.6kg shoes: Brookes Adreno-things

It has been a while since I have run for over 90 minutes. Track logging was both necessarily slow (good for the first long run in ages) and also provided the incentive to keep going when the body wasn't really interested. The highlight was the heart rate maximum when two large dogs decided I needed warning off. A couple of very accurately thrown large stones solved that problem.

Real Orienteering race (Mt Tarrengower) 1:05:12 [4] **** 7.85 km (8:18 / km) +295m 7:00 / km
ahr:104 max:181 spiked:11/15c weight:80kg shoes: Brookes Adreno-things

A curates egg run. Good in parts. I ran the first part hard to try and break away from a pack. That is often a silly strategy and today was no exception.
2. Lost 4.25 wandering in circles because I misread the control description and didn't realise I was too high. Almost spiked it, standing within anbout 5 metres of the control but didn't see it low down below me... the old convex cliff trick! Silly.
4 Lost .30 Minor blemish in circle when I followed two in front into the control, only they were wrong and so was I. If I had trusted my approach I would have spiked it.
5. Lost 15 seconds.. same error as no 4!
14 Lost 3 minutes. Back in the Bermuda Triangle above Butts Reserve. Thumbing error this time, and proceeded to skip this control in the run downhill to the finish... So I had to 'run back up the hill some way.
Total loss of time... 8.15 .

Walking 2:00:00 [1]

Spent 6 hours tagging for the Middle Distance Champs at Mt Korong. I guess this is equivalent to two hours of easy jogging. It was a good alternative to work. Driving out I was feeling stressed about a poor radio interview this morning and what wouldn't get done before Tuesday. I forgot all about that soon after arriving, and just felt grateful such terrain is only 40 minutes from home. I didn't see anyone else out there.

From Mount Korong

That is the view from the assembly area. I once had dreams of using this location for the Oz MIddle Champs, but bushfire and parking problems prevented that. So now it finally happens. This opens up a lot of new terrain for all those running the short to medium length courses.
I hope it will be an enjoyable event. Spent lots of time thinking about the sites trying to avoid climb, green and rough. I'm happy with 70 metres climb for the short hard course.

Running warm up/down 4:30 [2] 0.9 km (5:00 / km) +10m 4:44 / km

Running tempo 21:37 [4] 4.6 km (4:42 / km) +40m 4:30 / km
ahr:150 max:180 weight:80kg shoes: Brookes Adreno-things

Took my lunchtime run at 4.30. It was that sort of day. Seems a sensible time to take a lunchtime run. I'm not going to return to the desk afterwards, so there are a few time efficiencies.

Running 21:00 [3] 3.9 km (5:23 / km) +80m 4:53 / km

Welsford hill circuit... slowly.

Running 26:00 [3] 4.6 km (5:39 / km) +30m 5:28 / km
shoes: Brookes Adreno-things

An extra run in the evening because of the slackness of the lunchtime. In retrospect, not the most glorious of choices, what with overheating (long running pants) and being caught short half way round.
