Running 33:03 [3] 6.05 km (5:28 / km)
shoes: Saucony White Thingys

A few laps of Lake Neangar. Started slow, sped up, finished slow. I'll let you imagine the mid segment was 4 k in distance.

Collecting controls from the three hour event i didn't attend. Why me? Actually, Jools did a load as well, and with some help fropm Peter Creely it was unmder control in less than 2 hours. Memo... arrange to organise an event next year after a light control load event the week before.. sort of like my Orientshow next week. Two events in a row... sort of defeats the purpose.

A jaunt through the sand at Lakes Entrance, taking in the golf club, the ocean beach, the entrance and the surf club access bridge. Just missed a fishing boat coming through the entrance and six seals surfing on the standing waves. Part of the run was pretty tough in soft sand. Overall a very pleasant run around sun set. I might get a chcne to do this again in 10 days time.

Walking 1:00:00 [3] 7.0 km (8:34 / km) +30m 8:23 / km

An afternoon walk around the Mallacoota entrance and Bastian Point. The scenery was enhanced by the passing storm fronts. After a morning of sitting in our unit watching the rain on the inlet, Julie succumbed to cabin fever and embarked on a mammoth walk in the rain. I gave her 40 minutes start then drove down to where I thought she might be arriving at the main beach. Against my better judgment I joined in, and despite rain gear, ended up getting soaked by a storm as I ran back from the entrance to the best available shelter. Ocean beaches do look at their best in wild weather. Its not as comfortable then though.

Event: OO.cup/09

Running 36:00 [3] 5.0 km (7:12 / km) +185m 6:05 / km
shoes: Saucony White Thingys

A jog down to Elusive Lake. This is a freshwater lake fed by groundwater accessed from the Wingan Inlet road. The run in was downhill and pretty easy. This was a good thing as the temperature was around 21 degrees. The lake was very tranquil, with hardly a ripple. The water was tannin brown and the beach was white sand. But the clouds rolled over and a first spot of rain fell as the temperature dropped. That made the run back out easier, as it was mostly all uphill.

Walking 1:20:00 [3] 6.0 km (13:20 / km) +20m 13:07 / km

Walking around Elusive lake and then walking to the entrance of Wingan River from the campsite. The spot is very picturesque, but we didn't see any of the fabled wildlife that our friends rave about. That was until we reached the ocean beach. For much of the walk we had a quite tame dingo following us. Had lunch by the Wingan River outlet and decided we weren't going to swim the strong current. We sat on the windy beach instead and watched the seals on the Skerries through the binoculars.

Walking 1:30:00 [1] 11.0 km (8:11 / km) +50m 8:00 / km
shoes: Saucony White Thingys

Did the walk from Shipwreck Creel to Seal Creek Beach. For me this was the highlight of the week at Mallacoota. The beach was isolated. The rock pools, pinnacles and cave were all enjoyable exploration. The traversing along the rocky headlands was quite slow. The time shown is merely an estimate based on average easy walking speed. It was much slower at times.

It was getting pretty warm. Who would have thought sun hats, shorts and T-shirts in July!
