Real Orienteering race (One Tree Hill) 1:05:20 [3] 8.57 km (7:37 / km) +185m 6:53 / km

What better way to try out the back than a race. Took it a bit easy though. Actually, took it easy because I couldn't do anything else.

Running 23:36 [2] 2.96 km (7:58 / km) +60m 7:14 / km

And decided to push my luck by running some extra distance collecting controls. That makes it into a long run for the day.

Both legs much improved. Now back is showing its form.
Mass is going wrong way due to more going in than coming out.

Note

Street Orienteering in Bendigo pronounced dead

Progressive attendances over the past 4 weeks- 10,7,5,4
I think if we run Pseud-O events again, we'll be following the Melbourne Monday lead... imaginary controls.

Note

An observation and a update.

Long runs after a Saturday event.. seems this explains feeling crappy. I think I'll be getting my long runs in by collecting controls after events and then resting (probably painting if you can call that rest) on Sundays. I have to collect next Saturday. The following Saturday I am organising the event and I suspect a long run before easter is off the agenda anyway. After Easter we have a long run of family committments, starting last week in March.
24 March control collection
1 April Control placement (wich usually means collection help afterwards)
8 April Control collection (officially Julie)
15 May Control placement (Julie) Control collection (Evan)
22 May Control placement (Evan) but probably helping collection afterwards
I expect it will be a family shared effort.

Now.. the famous photo op of me on a bike with a map. Didn't happen because Eureka didn't fulfill their side of the bargain and enter Julie on the computer before the event. A lost opportunity... thankfully.

Did the map layout. It now really is finished. Interesting stats. It has taken 40 hours to map and draw 0.7 of a square kilometer. Hope it has been worth it.

Note
(injured)

The fallout from feeling stiff on the run yesterday. I seem to have a hamstring injury. This probably started with some damage when I slipped on wet rock at the Bryces Flat event. Thought it was past news. I was wrong.

Hoping it solves itself pretty quickly. The alternative is to spend many more hours than planned at the National Folk Festival. I suppose that would be one consolation.
