Sore hamstring and trapezoid, so this run started as one of Blair's 'lame jog-walk' struggles. But as I warmed up the walking was abandoned for at first a slow jog, and eventually running. The ridge to Marne was resplendent in purple thickets pf Patterson Curse, some head high. I'm gradually approaching long run status. If we do the Night-O next weekend, I'll be interested to see how I manage two hours in the bush.

Real Orienteering race (One Tree Hill) 41:59 [3] *** 4.9 km (8:34 / km) +180m 7:14 / km
spiked:15/16c

Evening score event on One Tree Hill. I have orienteered for almost two decades in the Bendigo forests. How they looked tonight was new to me. The forest at the back of One Tree Hill was thick with an uprush of everlasting daisies. Control stands were hard to see, as the daisies were taller. It was hard to find your footing in the rocky areas because the daisies were so thick. Its a fascinating sign of a turn in the rainfall patterns. And more this weekend.

The event? Good fun, and none to serious. Almost two minutes overdue and dropped one control on the steep side of OTH because time was running out. Something to be said for twilight events followed by BBQs.
