Badge event on the easier section of the Prelinna map. At least it was in the daylight. Spiked ( or close enough not to quibbled) all but one control, because I was very apprehensive of losing contact in this terrainb. It was clear that relocation would be very difficult. So it proved. My one error was a hubris control. The last of the hard controls (no 9) was in the most challenging part of the map. I had gained enough confidence by then to try a straight line. Lost confidence very near the control. Wandered for seven minutes and relocated twice before sorting it out. Again map and GPS later in the week.

SA Night Orienteering Championships - Rawnsley Park

Choosing a distant event, and a championship at that, as a return after three weeks of virus was perhaps ambitious. Coming to terms with a new terrain and at night was asking for trouble, and so it proved. It was fun though.
I'll try and get the map and route up later this week so readers can bask in the private joys of schadenfreude. And I will leave the detailed appraisal till then. All I will say is that Julie and I had 5 legs in common and she won four of them.
