Mosquito Creek. No navigational issues, but only because I held my concentration throughout the race. I am not quite sure why this is such a special area. It is far superior to the nearby Lyell Forest. Maybe its the combination of a sparse track network with some good parallel contour country interspersed with areas of total vagueness. My uneventful navigation was quite the exception today. Everyone else was sharing stories of their noodles, and I felt somewhat left out.
My thought for the day was how exceptionally varied is the current three weeks of events offered in Bendigo. Last week was low visibility, gold mining detail and dense track network providing multiple route choice decisions. This week was high visibility-low relocatability country requiring continual concentration on the red line. Next week is the detail of the rocks of Kooyoora Spur. How lucky we are.
