Note

Its going to be a better weekend when you discover the area of useable mining terrain in your latest mapping project is twice as large as had originally estimated. Vicious scrub removed by burning, and what you thought was private land was public land. And it is on the edge of suburban Bendigo!
Thee hours mapping. Bit eerie though. Every now and then a car would drive into the area and a solo male would get out and walk around obviously waiting for something ... or someone.

Real Orienteering race (Wildflower Drive) 1:03:03 [3] *** 7.3 km (8:38 / km)
spiked:15/15c shoes: Innov-8

Wildflower Drive. 7.3 straight line.
I had been planning to go to the Melbourne Sprint today. Not because I thought the race down there would be superior, but I could combine it with a relative visit or three. I ended up with the unreliable car for the weekend. As a result it was Wildflower Drive. What I hadn't realised was that this was a first run a new map - the eastern block of Wildflower Drive. The new map is a great improvement on the old. Areas that were once a form of orienteering bingo are now well mapped. I think from an orienteering perspective I was forced into the far better option. And I both managed to get through a course 1 for the first time in a few months, and I spiked all the controls (again) and I had a good time.
Combined with -
The realisation that the eastern block of WFD is a candidate for a sprint event now.
A respectable sleep in
Transcribing a Turkish and an Albanian tune
Makes this a very good day.
